Is it essential? Of course not. But there are several items of bakpak that are very nice to have. -Ability to set and change wifi names and paswords remotely (sure, they're not the only one) -run system manager from the router (if director is down - I've had two instances where Iw as able to get a system up and running remotely because of it) -Monitoring of IP devices other than C4, as well as zigbee devices And yes I know BakPak isn't the only option, but it's darn nice to have it all packaged (pun intended) into a single 'brand' on site that just works.
