Cyknight Posted August 1, 2014 Share Posted August 1, 2014 From a user perspective - I use it quite a bit with zero issues.The advantage is the nice feedback on what's playing, more so the availability of all the apps.The downside is that you have no control over the source - you'd need to use your phone/tablet's apps directly. I love the ease of it though, vs using for instance a Sonos piece - your phone, your choice of apps, the device your used to. Works best with one for every user (of the piece), though that's not a requirement. I use it with my phones, tablets, iTunes direct off of a computer. WMB is an airplay/bluetooth (and DLNA) receiver for WHATEVER you can get on your device, Tuner is limited in what it has available. Now I'm in no way saying a WMB is the end all of music solution - not even close. But it is a nice addition to a system to add a lot of options. Cyknight Posted August 2, 2014 Share Posted August 2, 2014 Both no. To use Airplay, you justneed to be on the same network as the WMB - physical distance doesn't matter. That only matter if you want to use Bluetooth. The WMB hasn't been out all that long yet, and I have heard of no harware revisions being planned, nor do I see a reason for one. You have no control over the source anyone in the same house can steal the bridge and change sources. I'm glad the option is available but you might need a couple of them depending on the number of teenagers you have in your household. For iOS devices, once you change the AirPlay device all output goes there. Yes, you could play an app off your receiver but that is apples to oranges. One set of audio cables goes from the WMB to amp input 1, the other set are for the hc800 to the amp for TuneIn. However, I don't have anything going to AVR for family room speakers. My dealer said to get a couple Y connectors and split the audio. If I went digital coaxial from WMB to receiver, my family room would play faster and be out of sync with the rest of the house since that's all analog.
