Ryanjackson
Just like to say thanks to RyanE and everyone for all the free drivers out there... Just build a birdhouse with a raspberry pi and a webcam running Motion. I used RyanE's web events driver to receive a http command from my RasPi's motion program ("on_motion_detected"). Have it set up to send a prowl notification through c4. Pretty cool stuff. Thanks again Ryan

Ryanjackson
I have a birdhouse in the tree in the backyard with a raspberry pi and a webcam built into it. The raspberry pi is running motion ( camera recording software for linux). When motion is detected in the birdhouse it sends a http event to c4 which pops the birdhouse webcam up on my TS and then c4 sends out a prowl notification to my phone...Ryan
therodog
My wife would think that's awesome. This is all running off battery power? I'd love to see how you did this exactly, even some pictures. Very cool stuff.
RyanE
I doubt it's off battery, could be solar+battery, more likely some kind of power.Raspberry Pi is low power, but not so low you could run it for extended periods on battery.RyanE
Ryanjackson
I thought about doing a battery/solar combination but the webcam draws too much power. Currently just have a cat5 strung up to it. It was just out of wifi range of my house so i needed to get network to it as well. can post some pics later tonight.Ryan
therodog
Is the cat5 cable supplying it power as well? Like PoE?
