SMHarman
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tado/tado-cooling-intelligent-a-c-control Anyone seen this. Looks great for us apartment dwellers. If I could code an interface I'd be all in for that $299 API option. Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk

alanchow
i'm working on something which will be coming to market in the coming weeks that is similar in concept. Temperature sensing, power sensing, ir output, online IR database for HVAC units. Alternatively you can also utilise our chowmain generic ir thermostat driver as well however there is a bit more to set it up. http://www.c4forums.com/topic/14490-chowmain-generic-thermostat-driver-ir/
SMHarman
I was certainly pondering if the Tado API could be used as the output of the Chowmain driver, but that driver is looking to send an IR signal, not an IP command so would it work? A new IP driver would need to be written for the Tado product. Much like how we needed to write a new IP driver for this new product that will be released in the coming weeks. Watch the forum for an announcement. I'm actually really excited about this one.

chaim
Are you sure you don't need any beta testers? I just installed 6 split units in my new home and would love to help...
alanchow
We have this solution as well which uses existing hardware if you want something now.http://www.c4forums.com/topic/14490-chowmain-generic-thermostat-driver-ir/#entry124453

You would need 6 tado devices and Alan has at most one pre release prototype as part of the developer pack. alanchow
FYI I don't have a tado. I have a similar device by a different manufacturer.
chaim
The Sensibo actually looked to me like a much simpler solution as a device. Question is about integrating it into C4
alanchow
Both the Tado and the Sensibo are not available for developers yet so who knows. Until API access is available we can only guess. Tado August and Sensibo December development kit release dates.
SMHarman
Alan did you do the $300 developer investment pack? Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk
alanchow
No. We have enough HVAC solutions for now. The upcoming product is something we were approached to do.
chaim
Alan, is what you were referring to over here the Energis product? Over here you had written that its a new product coming out. As far as what we were looking for on this thread, for IR hvac control, is this any different than you generic ir hvac control? Is this a different hardware?
