Three way wiring

Question

I have a C4-TDIM1Z and C4-KP6-Z

Looking at this diagram my power comes in at the bottom of the stairs where where I'd like a keypad (box 1) and upstairs I was hoping to put the dimmer. Is it possible to reverse this diagram?

I'm thinking about it and would just connect hot in, keypad and then traveler black together and not use the extra in the three wire traveler and wire the upstairs normally.

I thonk people get confused with C4 and three way switches. C4 really just simulates a three way switch. It really a regular switch/dimmer on one side and a keypad that remotely controls that switch on the other.

Yep, first C4 three way. I ended up figuring it out, but you do need to think of it this way.

Unless you're using an auxiliary keypad. But those don't behave like a normal 3-way either.
