door bell

if its an existing door bell you would want to run the button of the door bell to the contact input on a controller or contact relay extender and then hook the transformer and door bell unit to a relay on a controller or contact relay extender.

If you go the Card Access route, they have a doorbell / phone line kit which is easy to install. Just splice into the low voltage doorbell power as is well layed out in the instructions, add the Elk device and run it to a wireless switch and it is up and running.

Similar install for phone events.

Installed myself in relatively short order. Had dealer install drivers/connections.

Just as an FYI...

The reason you'd want to go with CardAccess' solution instead of just splicing in your doorbell wires into a contact input on a controller is because splicing in the wires directly to the controller won't work if you have any lighted doorbells in the system.

The ELK module CardAccess sells as part of their phone / door sensing kit takes care of that issue.
