fwollen
Hi all, I'm new on this topic and own a C4 system since last December. I've c4 matrix C4LU86D and a 8zones Triad amplifier. Using iTunes driver to play music from MacMini connected via HDMI as source of the matrix. Every time I run iTunes on some room, i can see on the screen the typical interface but once I start playing a song, the video switches to mac mini-screen (aka mac desktop). Any idea on how to force the system to remain on the itunes driver interface so that I can control the music?
dcovach
Are you selecting iTunes from the Listen menu or Watch?
fwollen
Selecting From Watch, as I want to scroll the list, choice the music and see the artwork via EA3 interface
dcovach
iTunes should be in your Listen menu too. Try scrolling there and select music.
fwollen
apologies. I’m using it from listen menu (I read your question too fast and thought you asked watch/listen from remote control) I confirm I use iTunes from Listen menu on EA3 interface
fwollen
dicovach did you had any change to thnk about how to solve my problem? It's very frustrating turning on iTunes option from even from the app seeing other zones turning on TV..
dcovach
I'm not 100% how you have all this connected but I tend not to use the HDMI output of the itunes driver as I watch my movies with other devices. Ideally you want to have an audio connection from the mac mini either into an audio matrix or into a C4 controller. You need that audio path available to all your rooms. An HDMI connection only makes the itunes driver interface dissapear when playing audio and automatically selects the mac mini as a video source for the rooms. fwollen
Mac Mini is connected via HDMI to the C4 matrix which extract the analog signal and send it to Triad Amp via analog cable. At this point I believe the problem resides in the matrix. I'm also available not to use mac mini as a Video Source, if only the iTunes driver would works.. Been a while since i have used the itunes driver. Honestly I would suggest using apple music and airplay to get a better experience here. The itunes driver is meant to pass through to a AV device, so once you have selected something the driver will switch the navi to the gui of the device playing the music, you should be able to just hit the back arrow top right to go back to the itunes selections. dcovach
I have not tried this yet but is it possible to connect the audio out of the mac mini into the video matrix? This connection needs to be made in your project. I'm not sure if this is the best way to do this but it will isolate the mac mini as a watch and listen device. Ideally you want to bypass the video matrix for just an audio device.

However i do not believe this will solve the problem as control will still give you transport controls even for listen only devices.

I'm not used to walk through my house with my cellphone, so I do prefer using c4 remote control and see on the TV what to be listen. I'm insisting using iTunes as I've Apple Music subscription
fwollen
iTunes drivers (according to my installer) is only designed to work through HDMI from mac-mini and, as C4iTunes is a certified driver, it cannot be modified to use the 3,5 audio-output. Until I use HDMI, it seems that I cannot fix my problem.
dcovach
That is incorrect. You can connect a 3.5mm male to rca audio cable from the mac mini to the end point. It would be an rca audio output connection from the itunes driver. But this all depends if your end point device (matrix, amp, avr) can receive analogue inputs. If not, then you would need an audio converter. Either a digital to analogue converter or vise versa. I know the mac mini can output a digital (toslink) signal too.
