Kristof Toth
Hi Folks, I've a C4-8AMP1-B and an EA3 controller. How can I use the 3 audio zones? As far as I see 1 zone could be connected by digital, 1 with analog. But the controller has no more output. Or could it be done somehow over Ethernet? That would be the best option, but I'm afraid of Ethernet is only used for control, not for audio transport.
msgreenf
The only way to get a 3rd audio off an ea3 into that amp is an hdmi audio extractor.
BraydonH
But to be clear you use the four ZONES with the amp, but you can send them up to three independent audio STREAMS with the EA3. So your not looking for 3 zones, your looking for 3 independent audio streams to listen to something different in up to three of your four zones at the exact same time. Kristof Toth
And what about 5.1? Is it somehow possible to use this amp for home cinema? My current setup won't allow to try digital in as dolby digital (or similar). Or just stereo?

But I want to investigate how I can optimally use it, since now it is only a stereo amp with 1 zone, 1 stream from ea3.
msgreenf
That amp can't be used for 5.
zaphod
These amps are generally built to drive four pairs of speakers in four different rooms. Very often you will actually be using the same source audio in all rooms. For example, I have one of these amps in my home office. It is connected to ceiling speakers in the office, ceiling speakers in my living room, ceiling speakers in a hallway and ceiling speakers in my dining room. The inputs of the amp are connected to an EA-3. I generally use the amp to play music from Spotify in those three different rooms and it is almost always the same music playing in all rooms. Or I may use it for sound from the TV in my office and play music from Spotify in the other rooms. And I have an Amazon Echo Dot connected to the matrix amp so I can request music by voice with Alexa. How to use it optimally? Run speaker wires to three other rooms that go back to this amp and drive them with the amp. Or drill a hole in your wall and run some speaker wires outside so that you can enjoy music when you are outdoors. Or put multiple pairs of speakers in one room and drive each pair independently with this amp.
