ILoveC4
The difference is the Media Controller is old hardware. The HC-500 is it's successor, and is a much more capable device. At this stage in the game I would not recommend buying a media controller. It will not run 2.0 software, it doesn't support rhapsody, it doesn't output an HD gui, and the list goes on and on.Trust me, stick the the HC-xxxx series of controllers. wappinghigh
Yeh..for goodness sake stick with the new HC500Otherwise you won't be able to run the new Version 2.0 software...and this is a major beneficial change IMHO...

dgbrown
Thank you for answers:DUnless you need the extra connectors on the HC500 I would recommend the HC300 and an external storage device (aka a ReadyNAS DUO for starters. There some great rebates at NewEgg bringing your price down to <$300 for 1TB).
