C4CPA
bhadamsThanks for the info on the cost of a system, this is very helpful. Why would you have 3 local video sources? Is this something like a Wii game controller that you need access to?
bhadams
Two story house with an unfinished basement. Master Bed has a local BluRay, Great Room would have a local BluRay and a Game System, the Equipment location is in the basement. Local sources are for ease of use in this configuration as I'm sure you can imagine.
akg4y
Gotta go digital storage I guess ripping a blu-ray probably takes longer than a DVD (Ive never tried ripping a blu-ray) so that might be annoying... but if I want to watch a DVD I just pop it in the laptop and let DVDFab5 do its thing and bam its available in 10 min. thecodeman
It does, but local dvd players are still nice. Not all of your friends will bring over their NAS to show you a new movie they like
akg4y
Hence the 10 minutes on the laptop to rip it to an ISO ...or 10 minutes on the newsgroups but I dont know anything about that.

akg4y
Now now, you said movie... DVD was my assumption....although the newsgroup timing basically remains unchanged, maybe double for the 1080p, but I dont know anything about that.
bhadams
All good points, but in the design I wasn't assuming "su dvd, mi dvd". Publicly I think we should avoid preaching rental ripping, etc. Not to be preachy myself. To each their own. On a side note though, 2 of the 4 video sources at the home run were intended to be media players.
