Chrismccc
Hi everyone. I’m struggling to find an answer to this on the web, so hopefully you gurus will know it. my c4 agents installed ea-3, 8 zone amp, monitor ceiling speakers and I’m now on os3 and tidal hi res. I see the agent connected the ea-3 to the amp from the audio out (3.5mm) to rca in on the amp. two questions 1. I see tidal masters on my touchscreen, but am I really getting 24 bit out of the 3.5mm output? I guess it’s using the way-3 dac. 2. Anyone know how to connect the ea-3 to Sonos connect amp so I can use my ceiling Speakers for both Control4 music and Sonos surround sound (not at the same time obviously ) chris
-defunct-
1) That sample rate is a digital format. RCA is analog, so the controller's DAC would convert it. 2) Need the Sonos Global Line In driver and connect the EA to that, but it is not a supported/recommended config from C4. Chrismccc
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. 1. I guessed as much . I was trying to work out if the rca downgraded to 16 bit. 2. Again guessed as much. If I connect the Sonos amp to ceiling speakers and nothing else, I lose the C4 multi room music in that room . So I was trying to somehow double up . Made worse be the fact the ea-3 only has one analog out, so i would still need to convert the digital coax out to the Sonos amp analog in. -defunct-
If it is a sonos amp, then a matrix switch should work fine and that is supported. I had assumed the Sonos speaker was a play 5 or something portable. Sonos Amps are treated similarly to other smart amplifiers.
Chrismccc
That’s great to hear . Do you advise I connect the Sonos amp to the ea-3 or from the 8 zone matrix amp ?
Chrismccc
I think that was a stupid question. I guess it’s from the ea-3. -defunct-
SMHarman
1. The tidal is 24 bit. All music must be converted to analog before you can hear it. 2. Where is the sonos app powering the surround speakers. In the rack? If so you can add it to the matrix.
Chrismccc
My rack holds the Control4 ea-3, 8 zone amp and the Sonos amp. Currently I have the ea-3 feeding the 8 zone from ‘audio out 3.5mm’, using all 8 zones
