UK - Sky Q issues

Recommended Posts

Not directly Control4 issue but someone here may be able to shed some light:

Last week I set up a new program in Virtual Director and we purchased the intrinsic{dev} Sky Q driver.

This week I'm in the office setting up the physical system.

The intrinsic driver requires a static IP on the Sky Q - this is done:

IP:192.168.0.201

Subnet:255.255.255.0

Gateway: 192.168.0.254

DNS: 8.8.8.8

The issue at hand is that although the Sky Q is connected to the network and internet

* The EA3 cannot see it and the driver is always offline

* Sky Q cannot be pinged from same subnet

* Does show up in Advanced IP scanner

For the life of me I cannot figure out why this thing is unreachable.

The router is Sky, so there are no VLAN's involved. It's a flat network.

Control4 related, this system has a Sky Q and two Sky Mini's in separate rooms.

How do I set up the Mini's with the intrinsic driver?

I can't see any way to differentiate them.

Cheers

-slip

I've also downloaded the chowmein sky q driver from driver central.

It attempts to connect, states that its online in properties but never pulls in the mac address. Logs show it constantly connecting>online>disconnecting.

Starting to think it's an issue with the Sky Q box as I've never seen this sort of thing happening before.

Despite stating its online, I never have control of the box.

The Sky Q boxes will not respond to ICMP requests.

You can try an nmap and see what open ports there are, it should something like :-

Host is up (0.0030s latency).
Not shown: 983 filtered ports
PORT      STATE  SERVICE
80/tcp    open   http
1234/tcp  open   hotline
5000/tcp  open   upnp
5001/tcp  closed commplex-link
6000/tcp  closed X11
6100/tcp  closed synchronet-db
8008/tcp  open   http
8080/tcp  open   http-proxy
8081/tcp  closed blackice-icecap
9080/tcp  open   glrpc
9091/tcp  open   xmltec-xmlmail
9998/tcp  closed distinct32
9999/tcp  closed abyss
49153/tcp open   unknown
49155/tcp open   unknown
49160/tcp open   unknown
49163/tcp closed unknown

You can wget or curl the Sky Q box direct, in your case :-

curl http://192.168.0.201:9006/as/system/information

This should return your info on the Sky box, if not then you have a network issue.

Hi David,

That was very helpful.

nmap does in fact return port status:

So the question now is why do neither the chowmein or intrinsic drivers work?
