C4 Fan Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 My setup includes 4 TV locations (via HDBaseT) and several audio only locations. All of my equipment is in a rack away from all zones. For 3 of the TVs, I'm using ceiling or wall speakers powered by a C4 amp and for one location I have a Polk 5.1 passive soundbar powered by an Onkyo AVR. I have 6 video inputs (DirecTV boxes, Rokus, etc.) feeding into an HDMI matrix. In order to get sound to all of the locations I have to extract digital and analog audio from the sources. I've tried a J-Tech converter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08R6HCGVV?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 and it works for the most part but I would need 6 of these based upon my current setup. Current setup is an input (Roku for example), into the J-Tech, into the HDMI matrix, out to the TV, digital out from TV into the Onkyo. I'm just wondering if there is a better solution that would not require 6 converters. My current setup works for the most part although the J-Tech devices do not work with certain Roku Ultra models (they do not pass 5.1 audio, just PCM). That appears to be a defect with their device that they are looking into. Anyway, I'm just looking for suggestions on best practices for extracting the audio. Thank you for the help. Quote
lippavisual Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Using a HDMI matrix that supports the downmix is the best way. But obviously much more costly than just adding more audio de-embedders. Quote
