is Control4 Connect replacing 4Sight

Recommended Posts

Hi there all - is Control 4 connect replacing 4sight over time? I have an older HC controller and it would seem I can continue to use 4Sight but presuming I will be forced off 4 sight over time or the HC controller will be de-supported.

Wow - so they are forcing a SaaS model for all hardware bought from April 2024. For me personally I get my Control4 dealer around once every 2-3 years for 3-5 hours (new OS features just don't come in frequently enough to warrant more regular visits) to update software/ drivers, tweak the setup and account for any new/ changed hardware (usually the once every 3 year TV/ AV Amp upgrade cycle).

On that basis I would not upgrade to new SNAPOne hardware when my HC controller is sunsetted or just needs to be upgraded.

Im sure for high end automation users (50+ sensors/ devices/ large multi room setups) this is a no brainer (cost wise) but for the sub 50 sensor/device setup I have I would just switch to apple Home or some other matter/ thread based setup which also moves me to a no-dealer required setup/ maint. model which gives me more control (but Im a relatively technical user). Also no more having to use a very narrow set of expensive sensors that are C4 compatible.

Im sure the CFO has crunched the numbers and this model increases recurring revenue but this move will lose a lot of the lower end crowd or those that have the tech nous to build and run their own system.
