  1. What are your thoughts on the limited zwave products supported by C4?  With the new controller available my thoughts would be that it is marketed as a product that would be a mass market......however you would think with a mass market controller the product would support a stronger list of zwave devices.  As lower demographics in my area would invest in the lower price point of this controller .....  but still not be able to absorb the investment of the C4 lighting line over the lower investment of wave.

Just curious about what you think...

It could certainly use more. Problem is in part which one and what devices. Zwave lighting is plenty-full but ranges from perfectly fine to terrible quality.

I do not in any way speak for C4, but I'd love to see more supported products myself. As for the reason why, your guess is as good as mine.

  2. Hi,  I'm new to this forum.  I reviewed one of Cyknight's recent responses regarding Rhapsody/Napster only working on version 2.8.2 or higher.  Our Rhapsody doesn't work well at all - doesn't play stations, only plays first song of album then nothing, etc..  Cyknight indicated that our "dealer" had to update our system.  We have a HC800 controller and have version 2.8.0512161.  If by dealer you are referring to where we purchased our system - namely Best Buy - then that would mean that we would have to pay them to come out every time we need an update.  This doesn't make any sense.  For one, Control 4 doesn't inform us when they are doing updates and for two, we should not be at the mercy of having to pay Best Buy to come out to update our system.  Please confirm how to fix our Rhapsody/Napster without incurring any additional costs.  Thx.

Simply put - yes you need a dealer to update. That doesn't have to be the same dealer that did the install, and can be done by a dealer remotely (ie one of the guys that offer it on these forums). But yes, it has to be a dealer.

Regardless of what your thoughts on the dealer requirement is - and I've no intend to argue either view or the reasoning behind them - that is how it is.

  3. So I have used the IP address username password and workgroup in all caps.   One of the C4 tech guys gave me a path and that is the one I was referring to in my earlier post.   I can log into the NAS via the IP address ..... But I am thinking the path is incorrect and am at a loss as to find the path within composer if that makes since.   Again if I leave the path blank that doesn't work and when I press browse it shows a network icon and I click that however does nothing . The path they gave me is\\WDMYCLOUD\PUBLIC

If the network doesnt load (it can take 30 seconds) there may be some issue with the controller's ability to see the network.

Too 'see' and program off of induvidual zones you need to add drivers for those zones and tie them to the security system zones/
