I believe the old ones are flash based which is why they had to be let go. I had to do an upgrade to 2.10.5 and it had to be removed from the project but re-added as a dumb doorbell, not sure if the dummy driver works in OS3 because I haven't had to deal with them much so I am not much help

The door stations do not use flash.....this is incorrect.  I'm on 2.10.6 and they are still in my project.

Could there be a way to still utilize Door Stations with limited functionality? a custom driver or something to save these.

Id be thrilled if I could still use my 2 door stations. I would be thrilled if I can keep these going forward as they were expensive, expensive to install and difficult to replace giving their size that had to be custom cut in my stone.   These Are the types of devices that should never have to be replaced and always work in some manner even that it doesn’t receive new features.   Once you expect the customer to cut into their stone in the main entry you should never expect them to replace it with something of a different size.  I can understand the need to upgrade older Touchscreen but it is very insulting to have to replace a fixed doorstation...especially without a same sized replacement.

    Hi Folks,

I’m the Manager of the Mobile and Embedded UI teams at Control4. I’m sorry to hear that you are having issues with your T3s! As has been confirmed we had an issue with doorstations calling T3s which results in long early media delays (when you first see the video before answering). We have a fix and it is currently being tested. I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised by the intercom performance when the fix is released. The  posts about a one to two week turn around is still accurate. I also want to assure you that we have an internal process in place to make sure we avoid these types of issues happening again. This specific issue was due to not testing calls from a doorstation to T3 on a large system. We have different scale racks with 18+ touch panels around the company, but the team responsible for this kind of testing hasn’t had the access they need. We are currently working on fixing that.

Re the other T3 issue the OP referred to, I am unaware of that particular issue. Please work with your dealer to send us the system logs. We are very interested in taking a look.

I appreciate everyone’s patience as we work through these issues! This was a HUGE release with a lot of moving parts. The great thing about Control4 is most of the employees are also customers. We want our houses to work well too! I have seven touch panels (4 in-wall, 3 table top). If my system doesn’t work well my family lets me know.

Thank you for reading, sorry it was a long one 😁

Thanks for the feedback as its appreciated.  Ive been a C4 customer since 2008 with numerous upgrades to my system.  I'm on the latest OS 2 build and have 10 touchscreens and 2 Door Stations and have noticed a very slow response time from the Doorstation V1 and the video intercom showing.  Wil this fix also help those of us on OS 2?  Also, 3 of my touch 7" T3 portable touch screens have lost touch sensitivity to the lower screen and are just out of warranty.  Is there a possible fix for this?  Several others have reported a similar issue in another thread.

    Thanks!

It's much more of an engineering effort than "didn't try very hard".

The new OS3.0 UI is Android-based (like the EA series and T3 touchscreens), and running that on the HC800 that has never run Android (and the hardware was *not* chosen to be Android-compatible) is very much a non-trivial task.

If it were easy, Control4 could've done that when they came out with the OS2.X Android UI...

The HC series were specced and built to run dual Android / Linux.

    RyanE

Why does it have to run android?  There is nothing special about the GUI and it could be replicated using a compatible OS on the HC800.  Just more work.  Work most of us would love to even pay for.  While we are at it RyanE why was the doorstation made into a doorstop.  It works on the current intercom protocol.  Seems like C4 doesn’t like to support their own hardware.

  5. No reason for Control4 to discontinue support for a fixed door station, and they should allow older controllers to be used as I am extenders. Etc. etc. Actually the processor in an HC 250 as much more capable than that in the I/O extender, yet the I/O extender continues to be supported. This is simply about money. And I will be showing them in the future that I will not buy any Control4 branded hardware  unless it is a controller

End user... I strongly disagree. How would my nanny change the temp in my house? She doesn’t have a smart phone, my t-stat is deep in an AV closet, and I abandoned dedicated crappy touch screens long ago. She doesn’t speak English and all I had to do was show her the red button on the sr260 and she could use everything immediately.

Sure I can select my audio/video sources on my remotes but the “coolness” of control4 would be completely gone for me if I didn’t see it come up on my TV when I hit the red 4 button.

Im not your ideal client. I’ve got self installed Lutron lighting, security, sonos everywhere and a ton used of gear off eBay. Control4 ties it all together and the TV GUI is my favorite part. My system isn’t designed or relies on any single brand.

Sounds like the best way to use Control4 going forward. Third-party hardware only and avoid all Control4 branded equipment outside of controllers as they are the first to be abandoned. Isn’t it funny that they support all these different equipment yet abandon their own... extinguishing customer loyalty in the process.

Which begs the question.  Why buy Control4 Door stations, touchscreens, speaker points and even slave controllers when it is such a huge deal for Control4 to maintain?  They brag about supporting 13,500 third party devices, aren't we better off buying those whenever possible?

Exactly my frustration...if my 2 $1000 door stations were third party I could upgrade and continue to use them.  Now if I want to upgrade to 3.0 I will have 2 $1000 doorstops.  Not only that but the new units are of a different size and I previously spent $500 I spent to have a mason cut the brick .  Control4 is nearing the end of the road for me.  I likely won’t upgrade and will slowly quit replacing older gear due to their lack of support.  If dealers think these type of corporate moves will expand their customer base they are likely wrong.  If you expect your customers to replace equipment like a doorstation every 5 years then you don’t understand the market for your product.  I can understand the need to make older controllers obsolete, but fixed in-wall devices should be permanent and supported.

Also my speaker points are just used as local amps...do they really have to be removed?  Why would and amp need to be removed?

Yeah... I gave up on making this a real "product" when Amazon announced several months back that they were putting the buttons on end-of-life.  I have it all working in my system and I bought about 10 buttons to play with when Amazon was giving them away, but this will end up in the "interesting experiment" history books.

Is this something that could be added being I own your Apple HomeKit device.  I bought a bunch of the dash buttons in anticipation.

I'm preparing a driver and just such a "productized" server appliance now.  Nearly done with it.  The driver will receive inputs from any number of named dash buttons, and you can program whatever action you want for them.  The server is based off of my homebridge appliance.  I already have all the components of the system working, and I'm just finishing up the web configuration portal (to make setup/management super easy).  After some thought, the driver itself will be free.  If you already have my homebridge appliance, the update that includes dash buttons will be free.  You can either buy my homebridge appliance (which also lets you use it for HomeKit) for $225, or a stripped down Dash Button only version for $100.  I also allow you to license the entire OS image of either for $50.

I’ve been dying to get my hands on this ....anyway to sell me your version?
