  1. Hi all,

We have lights integrated in our pool controlled by a remote. While I’m not very sure of that, I think it may be a radio signal, certainly not IR. There is a few automation on the remote or we can select the Color with the PAD. See attached image for reference.

Do you think that is could be possible to have this controlled with Control4 and just place the original remote away?

    Thank you

Simply putting Kodi (eg OSMC) on a RPI also has an option to enable or disable airplay.  You could get the chowmain kodi lite driver and program a room to turn on when audio starts playing.  I think that could work too.  The kodi lite driver has a trial option so it could be tested before buying.

That is all the problems I can see if using a Pi for AirPlay, since my audio matrix is connected to 8 different zones. Even if I can AirPlay to a Pi, it won’t help me select which zone I want to use over AirPlay. I even have an AirPlay AirPort Express that could be used for AirPlay, but that won’t result in any easy way to select the destination.

Depends on the entirety of what you're doing.

Apple TV's don't have audio out. And they're not a fun thing to use headless in a rack to just provide airplay.

At the same time, if all you want to do is add airplay to an area that you also have an ATV, then it's almost a no brainer.

My Apple TV are all in my rack. I used to be able to AirPlay to one that I directed to an audio output of the matrix, but it is a dual step configuration that I can deal with maybe, but too much for the other members of my family.

I do not see how a Raspberry Pi could handle the sound of the matrix without being integrated into the Control4 system itself. Maybe can you share the how to of your setup??

I personally would upgrade based on performance alone, but you could just add an airplay device.

For other audio based reasons, I've been playing with Raspberry PIs. You could easily add a Raspberry Pi and load hifiberry, dietpi or RoPieee all good options for simple Pi config for audio, and all provide Airplay.

I guess a Raspberry Pi won’t do better than an Apple TV. You still need to select the source from the Control4 app and then airplay to the Pi.

You need at least an HC800 controller so you can't do this on an HC250

That is why I said ShairBridge could be what will make me upgrade to a new controller, one better than the HC250. But it probably won’t be an HC800, which is relatively old too.

  6. I found this thread while searching Google:

I did what the second user (sparky7) did and it stays connected now.

But trying to scan the media library manually don't seam to work. Hopefully I have not mess up a parameters. I click teh Scan Media at the buttom, but nothing happens... I know the user have access to the files, since it works on my Sonos with he same account. I rebooted my NAS, but nothing different. I'm thinking of rebooting the controller itself, maybe there's something stuck in its little brain...

You need to Turn On Sama 1 Legacy Protocal in Synlogy to restore your access back as C4 only supports Samba 1! Yes in 2021!

I forgot to mention, but yes, I did reenable SMB1 on my NAS. That also caused issues with the Sonos speacker I have on my work desk, which helped seeing the issue. But when SMB1 was not enable, I received another message saying something like "the server is not available". Now I clearly get a message that says is is connected, but then it will disconnect after a few seconds.

Look at the 3 screenshots below taken at a few seconds each.

If you want a low cost way to upgrade you can buy a used HC-800.  It might be obsolete soon but you can use the latest OS on that controller.

Yea, I see hem on eBay between $130-250 USD. That may be an option, but like you mention if it becomes obsolete in a year or two, it is something we have to take into consideration. And I'll need a dealer to install it anyway, and pay for that too.

    an example here:

it doesn't matter - you still can't do it in 3.2.2....

what are you actually trying to achieve? let us help you!

Yea, I got it that it is not a user option, even if I were to upgrade to a newer controller and software.

I wanted to add a game option to the Watch list in my Cinema room remote. This way, If I want to bring the Switch, Wii or Xbox to the big screen, it would be as simple as moving the device. The Onkio have plently of HDMI ports available for that usage.

Since I'm already doing a few things with my current dealer, I'll ask him to add this to his to do list. Next time, I may ask someone from this forums, as the reply is somewhat faster!
