Lowes Harbor Breeze Fan Home Automation

Question

Does anyone know if there is a way to integrate the Lowes Harbor Breeze Fans into a Control4 system.  Has any third party vendors have the ability to switch out the remotes and/or internal parts of the fan to support both the turning on and off the lights (dimming) as well as variable speed settings. The technology should be wi-fi or ZigBee.

Unfortunately, these fans are not Wifi or Zigbee, but regular old RF around the 300mhz spectrum. These guys here did some looking into it back in the day.

However, if you pull up the FCC ID of the remote on the FCC website and find that it has a 433mhz frequency, you can spend about $150 or so on a Matterlink if you have a free ethernet port and a place to put this guy nearby.

Otherwise, you'll need to swap the fan out if an electrician can verify that they aren't able to separate the light/fan circuits to two switches on your wall.... kind of the reverse installation of this install guide for their remote.

If you can get the fan to operate with a toggle switch for the fan, and a toggle switch for the light, then you can install the Control4 fan speed controller and a Control4 dimmer.

In most all ceiling fans like this there is a module near the ceiling rose. It takes 3+4 wires in L/N/E and switch leg and then has 4 wires going out. For the fan and light control.

This module can be removed and replaced with straight wire connections for fan control and light control. Then the 4 wire cable going to the wall switch goes to switch leg and to fan control. In the wall you get a C4 fan switch and a C4 light switch or keypad dimmer or dimmer.
