Im not familiar with Mira how does it let you switch between apps using the SR-250?

Good question... I should clarify you can use Mira to navigate on your Mac using the SR-250

Mira is an application launcher that mimics the Apple remote. Their latest version comes pre-configured for 70 different software applications, but you can easily create your own. They have a free trial on their website that you might be interested in http://twistedmelon.com

Basically, here's how it works:

SR-250: Press "Watch Mac" followed by pressing "Menu"

From there, the Mira application launcher starts. I use the SR-250 to scroll to the app I want and "SELECT". Once in an application, your SR-250 mimics Apple Remote buttons for that app. For example, pressing "right arrow" on your SR-250 while running Boxee does xyz. Pressing "right arrow" on the SR-250 while running SlingBox does abc. These app specific mappings can easily be changed in Mira... or even replaced with scripts. The only limitation is your SR-250 only reproduces the same number of buttons as the Apple Remote. If you want to switch apps, you just press "CNCL" until you get back to the app launcher.

For my needs... it works great. Hope that helps...

+1. Mira and SR250 with mapped apple remote codes = one way C4 IR control of a mac. This actually works! The other cool thing is you use applescripts and stuff to say launch Safari straight into a dedicated http:// eg to pull up IP camera feeds, or dedicated video sites etc..

What driver are you using for the SR-250, just the Apple TV driver?

I think that's what my dealer put on. I'll ask him for you. It works real well. Mira's application launcher is the key...you can get it to load almost any OSX application...

Further note. To quote my dealer: "The driver I have installed on your system is a mac mini driver I have created. It has the same IR codes as my AppleTV driver.

The only difference are the physical connections available on the back of the units which I specify for making the Control4 driver"

Okay, its official.

I have dumped the Mac Pro and built two HTPC's in its place.

One for HDMI for the main theatre in the family room, and another HTPC with component going to the rest of the house.

I have a Sans Digital Eliteraid hardware raid system now, ditching the Habey 12 bay enclosure.

I am now primarily using Alan Chow's XBMC driver and am very happy with its performance.

I will take pics as soon as its all done and cleaned up. (taking care of the cable mess with a patch panel, etc).

Wow...when you say you're going to do something, you don't muck around! :D

What's happening to the gear you are no longer using

I am still utilizing a DAS vs NAS. The second HTPC streams from the primary as a shared drive.

I built them identical to each other, with varying video cards and processor speeds for cost. They are producing true Dolby.

I am using a 50gb SSD for the primary, and a spare spinning 1TB for the secondary.

Some troubleshooting things I found were the eSATA ports on the motherboard. You have to enable AHCI mode on the motherboard before you install windows. Something I just lucked upon in the troubleshooting.
