Xbox One IR Driver

Ok,

 

Now that the IR codes are out, I figured I'd throw this one out there...

 

http://www.patrickstuart.com/tv_Microsoft_Xbox_One.c4i and attached, assuming it works, just unzip and install.

 

I set this IR driver up as a TV / DVD combo, so you can use the IR commands to change channel and volume / mute along with the standard xbox commands.

 

Also, the TV portion of the driver has an hdmi input, which can take the passthrough hdmi in and then an output.

 

However, if you want to get the other devices, you will need to add a "fake hdmi switch" for the output to be combined with the other sources to your video destination.

 

I have not completely tested this, and it will most likely break your system, or at the very least, tempt you to PM me questions that I may not have the answer to.

Oh, FYI, the IR port is just to the right of the eject button, maybe a 1/8" away at the same height.

So here is my setup at the moment. IR connected to XB1 (just beside the eject button) and only connection is from HDMI out of XB1 to HDMI IN of my receiver.

 

On / Off does not work. I can't get it to power on or power off the Xbox One.

 

Arrow buttons and select work fine for getting around the menus and making selections.

 

Play, Pause and fast forward / rewind all work. I tested this on a TV show I own and it was able to select the show, start it, pause it, fast forward about 4 min then play, and pause. Pressing stop did nothing.

 

Menu will bring up the sub menu to select settings and something else.

 

I can't use any button I tested to "return", so if I wanted to go home, or go back to the previous page I would have to use my voice or another controller.

 

Overall it works mostly. If you would like me to try anything else for the other buttons, let me know. Otherwise I look forward to an update soon if possible that I can test again!

Thank you, pstuart!  Your Xbox one driver works well.  I changed a few codes, added a few macros to get "on" and "off" to work, dinked around with a few repeat counts, mapped x, y, a, b, and boomski!!!   Also, I'm having the best luck with placing ir emitter directly below the eject button.

For some reason, my X1 is no longer responding to IR commands.  I can see the IR bud flash but it won't respond.  When I first set it up, it was working with the existing IR cable and Nick's driver above.  Nothing changed.  It just stopped working the next day.   I moved the IR bud next to the eject button, to the right, under it, even held it a few inches in the air to see it it would catch any command.  All mappings are correct.

 

I even tried the IR blasted on the HC300.  X1 is within 6 inches of the HC300.

 

Any suggestions?  I'm assuming the IR port on the back of the X1 can't be used either.  I think its only IR out.

Have you tried a hard reset of the xbone? Unplug it and turn back on.

Working now.  I rebooted the Xbox1, the HC300, and my HC1000.  Seems to be working now.  If others have the Xbox1 with C4, please post updates, suggestions, etc.  Thanks.

Do you have the driver set to use the macros I created?

Yes I do. If I click on edit the driver it has a DOT in Use ON/OFF Macros.

On/Off is working for. Can't remember if I did anything special to get it to work. Using Nick's version. So far so good.

On a side note, I would not recommend either Xbox One or the PS4. The fact that neither unit can't read external media or see a network share is a step back from the previous units.

Stream to it. Not the other way around. Works great. Snap the music app and playto it from your PC. Same for mp4 video

I would but that kind of defeats the purpose of browsing your personal media content on a network share.  If I have to go to a PC and stream it to the Xbox 1, I might as well watch it on something else like a Netgear, WD, Popcorn, Dune, etc.

 

I would like to replace all these devices with just 1.  I guess they all serve a separate purpose.  I don't have a Dune but that might replace a few devices with the Blu-ray player.  Still need a Roku for HBO GO.  Urrggg.

 

Also, my power off/power on is working just fine using Nick's driver.  It doesn't know that it's on or off so its just a power toggle command but seems to be working fine for me.

Is it possible to get the channel number to work on HDMI input source?

 

Setup:

Cable Box -> HDMI Switch -> Xbox One (DVD) -> Receiver

 

The driver has been working great.. just curious what, if anything, I'm missing in order to have it use the cable box as a source through the Xbox so I can either change channels or input channel number to the cable box instead of to the Xbox.

Over ride the button presses in composer to send the cable box commands instead of xbox one commands.  I think this can be done in the programming off the room?  Not in front of composer right now to know...

What is everybody currently using for Xbox One?  I'm having all kinds of flakiness with my Xbox One not powering on, not powering off, not connecting to the controller correctly, etc.  I don't know exactly what my problem is yet because the issues are intermittent, but it looks like there are at least 4 different versions of this driver floating around.

 

The one in the download section here looks fairly recent, but doesn't seem to be working for me for power commands.

 

I have no Kinect.

 

Also, is everybody using the option for "instant on" power on Xbox One?

I have this setup at my house.

1) make sure the IR is attached correctly. This being off ever so slightly can cause issues.

2) I programmed power on = guide + guide

This has allowed it to be "discrete" and work very well.

3) use power off cosms when turning off

This is a no brainier but the power on command is a toggle so just clarifying.

Using these things causes it to work 100% for me. It also works with programming that turns it off if another source is selected. Hope this helps.

I also don't use the instant on option. It was a major waste of electricity for me since it's not used and I just turn on the room before I even go via my phone.

How exactly do you get your Xbox to turn off when you want it to?  Mine is set to Use on/off macros.
