MakeItAMudLight
What are y'alls recommendations for an HDMI switch that can be controlled by the Control4? Something that has 4+ inputs.
turls
I didn't have good luck with Monoprice. Look at IOGEAR AVIOR GHSW8181. It has IR and serial control options.
lippavisual
On the cheaper side but quality products: Atlona or SnapAV
MakeItAMudLight
What I'm wanting to do with this is move some of my components to a remote closet to clean up one of my cabinets as well as allow more room to grow. Also this would make it easier to try out new gear. I have a controller and ethernet in the closet I'd be using. I would then run either an HDMI cable or use a balun back to the A/V receiver in that room. I know a matrix would probably be recommended for this but I really only need it at this location for the moment. Would using an HDMI switch like shown above with a balun be realiable? I would also only be doing this with lesser used components. The DirecTV, Blu-Ray, and AppleTV would be kept local to the AVR.
lippavisual
No issues that I would be concerned about. Have done it plenty of times.

lippavisual
Typically, any HDBT extender will provide that capability. Most of them have either IR, RS232 or both available on the extenders. Snaps and Atlona have worked out well for me.

turls
Do the IOGEAR switches have Control4 drivers? I don't believe so, but its IR so should be simple for a dealer. Its on and off, cycle inputs, or choose them directly I think. There doesn't seem to be a lot of drivers for lower-end switches, and IOGEAR seems to be nice compared to the normal junk.
