Posted June 9, 20169 yr Hi all, some decics such as amps, projectors...have a ir window/receiver at the front of the units, and also a 3.5mm IR at the back. I am wondering what the difference is between the two. Can I simply remove the flasher at the front and replace it with a 3.5mm cable into ir in at the rear or do you need to change the codes when doing so. regards
June 9, 20169 yr Community Expert Usually it uses the same codes - you can certainly try. In some instances the driver may need a change though, there's no guarantee it will work.
June 9, 20169 yr Author Hi mate, thanks for the reply. I will try it and replace the ir flasher with a 3.5mm cable. Hopefully,it works first time. is there a way to look up if there s a driver for it in the c4 database. regards
June 9, 20169 yr Community Expert It would be the same driver - the difference is that there is a setting in driver to enable for 'direct ir' that is sometimes needed - sometimes it is not.
June 21, 20169 yr Author Ok, quick update. i changed the ir flasher at the front of the device, and replaced it with a 3.5mm cable to the ir in at the back. Worked straight away and the best part is that it s a lot faster too, like increasing/decreasing volume, swapping inputs, just way faster. thanks everybody for the replies and advice.
