flyingron
The C4 has developed a new problem which the dealer has yet to figure out. Selecting any audio input (pandora, tunein, or one of the canned audio inputs o the matrix) results in no sound. The control panels show a volume control at 0% and pressing the + button does nothing. Eventually it just drops. I assume this is likely some comm issue between the EA5 and the Triad audio matrix but most of the obvious things seem to checkout. System is an EA5 with 2.10.5 and a 24 port triad matrix. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this. Everything seems normal otherwise (and power cycling everything doesn't change the behavior). Matt Lowe
sounds like the triad matrix has fallen offline. would try rebooting it and checking the network connections
Bubben
When did this problem occour?
flyingron
I noticed it after a short power hit. I've tried power cycling everything. The Matrix appears to be getting network traffic (the link light is on and the data light is blinking). Note that audio programs not called up through the matrix do work fine (my home theater has its own EA1 feeding the audio system there for example). Bubben
Volume out, did yo check that its not at 0?
flyingron
Eh? The volume out of the EA5 is fine. I can't change the volume on any of the Matrix-connected zones. Pressing the + button results in nothing happening (the % numbers don't change).
Bubben
How do you know that volume out is fine? I’ve experienced that volume out from my EA5 changed to 0 after a poweroutage. Could be a longshot, but worth checking. Your dealer is able to do a quick check, and could also see if your amp got the right connections. flyingron
How do you know that volume out is fine? By connecting them to something other than the Matrix. The connection for the audio path between the matrix and the EA5 is just two sets of RCA phono plugs. It's not that the the matrix volumes were "stuck" at zero, you could not change them at from zero no matter what you did (control panels, remotes, iphone app). Sorry to dredge up an ancient thread, but the problem turned out to be a misapplied software upgrade as near as anybody can tell. This was compounded by an inept and unresponsive dealer. Finally, after giving up trying to get ahold of him and complaining to Control4, they've switched me to another dealer who came out and saw the problem. It took him and an hour or more on the phone with Control4 tech support fix the software on my system and get the thing back up. I still have the problem that audio3 dies periodically. But this appears to be an unrelated problem.

flyingron
Once audio3client goes tits up (and it shows up with a red dot in the summary on the web interface), none of the streaming (pandora, spotify, tunein) works in any room. It comes back once I reboot the controller. I have a feeling (though not confirmed) that this has something to do with the fact that I have both an EA-5 (which is controlling the audio matrix and providing the streaming service) andan EA-1 (which is driving the 80" TV and surround receiver and other stuff related to the big TV room) and that the EA-1 was off-line (that room was being renovated and they moved everything out of it). Since the EA-1 has been back on line, I've only noticed the audio3client dying once.
