Transferring to a new Philips Hue Bridge

I have some Hue lights in my house.  The first batch of lights were installed a long time ago and I am using the 1st gen round bridge.  My lights are set up in C4 using the C4 driver.

About a year ago I bought a new Hue starter kit as they were on sale for a very good price.  I am thinking that I should switch to the newer square shaped bridge.  I have found instructions on how to do this from the Hue side, but what will this do in C4?  Will all of the lights have to be re-added to my C4 system by my pro and all of the programming redone?

Ah!  I was wondering if that would happen.  We actually have 3 bridges and 140 lights!  Our dealer wondered if the power went out would we have to remap!

Do you use the C4 Hue driver?  I am struggling to learn it, and pair it with Alexa.  We have groups and subgroups and I worry they might be conflicting with each other.  I would like to pair a lighting scene with other C4 actions, but I can't even get lighting scenes to work.  BUt I just started using the Home COmposer and When/Then.

IF you have any tricks that would be helpful.

THanks

melissa

I do use the C4 driver but just to turn the lights on and off.  I don't often change the colours, and some of my bulbs are only white, but when I do I generally use the Hue app to do so.

I use Alexa but via C4 - I don't control the Hue bulbs directly from Alexa.  For example, I have a Lighting Scene for my basement that has both Hue bulbs and C4 lights (dimmers and switches) so when I am going down the stairs I say "Alexa, basement lights on" to turn on the lights when triggers that lighting scene from C4.

Hue driver setup is probably something you can do in HE under monitoring, all you do is set the IP address in the driver, and then set the appropriate addresses in the lights themselves.

Assuming these values in HE under the respective driver of course, but generally anything I can 'do' under system design for drivers is exposed in HE under monitoring

Zaphod,

When you say you use Alexa: "Alexa, basement lights on", C4 requires the phrase to start with Turn ON or OFF.  So you use Alexa to do one things and C4 to do another?  But C4 wouldn't respond to that phrase.  "Alexa, basement lights on" to turn on the lights when triggers that lighting scene from C4.  Do you mean Alexa turns on the lights and WHEN/THEN turns on the scene?  But that phrase wouldn't be processed by C4 as it doesn't start with TURN ON... I apologize if I misunderstood... I am an extreme newbie.

thanks

I have never used When...Then but I have been using Composer HE since I got my C4 system about 12-13 years ago.  With the command in Alexa I am triggering a Control4 lighting scene called "basement lights"  But I am guessing that you can do the same thing with When..Then.  This is being processed by C4 , I use these command daily and have never started with Turn On, but perhaps I could  I kind of use the verb at the end of the sentence - perhaps it works both ways?

I think you are correct but when adding new light bulbs to your system don't you need to Composer Pro to add the lights to your system?

Yes, my dealer adds the lights and groups them.  It is a pain and I wish there was a way I could do it.  I am already noticing that bulbs are being re-mapped and I can't figure out why.  I grouped them in the Alexa app and I am able to turn on and off and adjust brightness but I can't control the colors....
