Do I understand that the prowler can broadcast 1 to many were as the Elite cannot?

While I don't know all the differences for sure (I am sure Jeff will chime in), that is not the difference. The switch can put any input to any output, and any combition in between. Both switches can broadcast "1 to many".

Right on Codeman! The Clarity and The Prowler are both non-blocking switches in that they can send any source to any display in any combination of audio video. The ability to send audio and video separately to the same zone is also referred to as audio/video breakaway, just for reference (we do that too).

Codeman was right, The Prowler does have additional capability having CAT5 outputs that mirror the local audio and video outputs. Example; the same image that is sent via the CAT5 cable on CAT5 output #1 will also be available on local component outputs and either the analog audio or digital SPDIF outputs.

An typical application for this would be a sports bar or large residential installation where they might have up to 16 displays where they can send the same image to two displays at the same time.

I hope that answers the question.

Thanks.

Jeff

Or it could be super handy with a display in the local rack to ensure that your video sources are switching correctly without having to run all around the house.
