ILoveC4
I want to add control of a certain fireplace, that is currently controlled with a Low Voltage switch. I think it’s a regular light switch, just have LV wired to it. Anyway - there isn’t any high voltage wiring in to this box, and it’s in a place that I can’t really get high voltage wiring to it. Any ideas/solutions for how I can either replace the switch with something at the switch location, or even better - add an automated way to start/stop the fireplace (it’s just closing a relay) while still keeping the switch in place and functional (turn it on and back off with the switch)? chopedogg88
your best bet is to wire in a Z2IO in the fireplace equipment area, unless you can run a wire there directly from your controller's relay.

Yeah, unfortunately no way to get a wire ran in there. Assuming I do the Z2IO, could I wire it in such a way that either the switch could open/close the relay OR the Z2IO? I’m imaging whichever one turned it on would also have to be the one to turn it off, but is that possible?
Control4Savant
Do you have additional lighting in the room or an easy accessible UX? You can program a button press, create a custom button or a triple tap on a dimmer/switch to activate the relay on the Z2IO. Unless I am misunderstanding. chopedogg88
yeah I typically just link the Z2IO to a keypad button and/or voice command and remove the fireplace switch because if the switch is open, then closing the relay on the Z2IO won't complete the circuit
Control4Savant
The fireplace driver is also very nice for timer and LED indications.
ILoveC4
I have keypads all over the place - plenty of buttons to use.
chopedogg88
Oh and if the happens to have a remote, another option would be to use a Bond Bridge. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

Brownbatsbreath
You can wire the relay in parallel with the switch. You can still use the switch that way. The only catch is obviously you can’t use both at the same time. So if you turn the fp on with the switch, you can’t turn it off with the relay. Same with the relay, if it was turned on with the relay the switch will have no effect until the relay is turned off.
