Qolsys Questions....

Hi all,

I decided to pull the trigger on a new alarm system and 99% sure we're going with the Qolsys.

For those that have integrated with C4, could you confirm that the "physical" connection is WIFI?? (assuming on the same network as my controller).

Silly question, but does anyone also know if the main panel can be powered off the wired expansion panels boards? Or do I need to plug this in separately.  Just thinking ahead as this is a replacement for a concord 4 system, and I don't want to run any new cables in the house.  (I have 16 zones and 3 pads currently all wired).

And from left field....   Our house, like almost all in the US, came with wired smoke detectors (not like the batteries don't die in the middle of the night).  I've never found a simple way to somehow add this to an alarm panel and assumed it's not possible....  anyone know if there is a way?  Currently use a few extra wireless smoke detectors, just to trigger the alarm, but would love to have them all integrated.

Any thoughts on "gotchas" or recommendations from those that have done the install?

Thanks.

Both the panel and the hardware 16 require power from a DC source. Connection with Control4 is through Wi-Fi

I have the same smoke detector situation myself. There really isn’t a perfect solution

The best I’ve found and haven’t set it up myself, is there is a legacy device that listens to particular alarm signal patterns and triggers the Qolsys. One thing I did note was it needs to be placed near an alarm that doesn’t have the announcement feature. I believe some do and some don’t in my setup, been a while since I played with it and ended up just sticking in a few extra  DSC PowerG detectors.

Can confirm it connects locally over wifi, be sure the Qolsys has the latest firmware so it plays nice with C4.

Other than that can’t recommend it more, works great. All of the door sensors appear in C4 as well and can program off of them etc
