htjunkie
Trying to find out if I can do IP control of this Sony TV, it's their lower end Google TV. From C4 driver, I can see it's IP control, but the only option for communication is IR! Does it mean it can only do IR? I was hoping to have Netflix, YouTube, etc. mapped to the remote. Just wanted to confirm if this is the case, thanks for your help.
Bmwbball88
do you have the tv already? if so, do you have the following menu items available? Turn on your TV On the TV go to Settings > Network > Home network setup > Remote device/Renderer > On On the TV go to Settings > Network > Home network setup > IP Control > Authentication > Normal and Pre-Shared Key On the TV go to Settings > Network > Home network setup > Remote device/Renderer > Enter Pre-Shared Key > 1111 (or whatever you want your PSK Key to be) On the TV go to Settings > Network > Home network setup > Remote device/Renderer > Simple IP Control > On thats how I setup all my sony tv's with c4. (do all that first, then have your dealer import the sony ip tv driver and associate). according to the web manual for the tv it does have ip control that can be turned on. if it were me, I would take the chance, but just buy it from a place that you can return it from easily, even if its open-box
Cyknight
It can do IP control (note that you'll need to be on OS3). As for the connections....well your C4 dealer should know how that's supposed to work.
htjunkie
Thanks guys, I'm a dealer! I have done a number of Sony TV's with IP integration, almost all of them are XBR. Just this particular one client bought the TV already. When I'm in Composer, I see IR the only option under Communication. There's no way to enter the IP address of the TV, and under Network Connection, the TV is not listed that I can assign a network device to it. Cyknight
Hmm, yes that's odd. Wonder if it's a driver error or if the unit just isn't reliable or even able to use the IP indeed. It'd be the first sony smart TV in years that I've seen not support it, but nothing's impossible.....
htjunkie
I'll go onsite later this week to complete the upgrade with a new Core processor, will double check the TV settings. I believe when I first setup the networking, I could see "IP/App Control" and it warned me about the more power usage. However, I don't recall seeing the option to enter a pre-shared key! Worst case scenario, I'll just plug a Roku stick, it's been rock solid for me with Roku and C4 driver. I just want to make sure I'm not missing a step somewhere Thanks guys! htjunkie
FYI, in case you guys come across the same model TV down the road. I got onsite to finish off the Core upgrade, found the IP Control settings and setup a pre-shared key! I use another drive XR-65X90L and it allowed me to use IP control. With a different model IP driver, I have to bind using IP instead of SDDP address. Tested and all is working well.

Honestly i prefer a reserved ip plus ip ID anyway for Sony
