chesterwilson
Can anyone help me with this, I have a v1 thermostat and need to disable power stealing so I can use a common wire. Can anyone direct me to the instructions on this (has to do with cutting 2 wires from a diode on the thermostat)

chesterwilson
I have the early thermostat that doesn't have a switch, there was a control4 white sheet on cutting 2 of the 4 wires on the thermostat. I was hoping someone had a picture or instructions on doing this, anyone???

ILoveC4
chesterwilson, that looks like quite the undertaking.Me...I'd buy a new t-stat. Just sayin...Knowing my luck I would do this and then it would quit working 2 weeks later...just after the warranty expired (if your handy work doesn't void it). chesterwilson
Awesome, thanks, I will let you guys know how it works (or doesn't).ILOVEC4: Its an ebay unit, so I don't want to pawn it back on someone (obviously no warranty). I figured I would give it a shot and if no go I would buy a new one. Thanks!

thefred
It worked! Thanks for your help guys.I am curious as to where you pulled the common wire from. My dealer was suggesting connecting to it's own transformer and plugging it into the wall.

My dealer was suggesting connecting to it's own transformer and plugging it into the wall. The common wire need to be attached to the common side of the HVAC transformer.Hooking a second transformer to the t-stat in addition the the HVAC transformer would probably damage the t-stat. dannyboy
Can someone confirm if this wiring is the same for the new T-stat?I'm not trying to implement yet - I just want to provide to the builder/heater installer to confirm the model they are providing will work with control4.
