PixelPerfect
Okay I have an old touch screen, when it was purchased it was running on 1.3. So like I said its an older unit, and it is slower than a handicapped snail. I would love to replace it, but I cannot afford to. Is there anything that can be done to speed it up at all? Basic room functions are not to bad, when it tries to pull song list, video list, it slows down to a crawl. When you try to leave the room and move to another, you have time to make coffee and sit down and drink it.Mike
nikon
It may be your home controller that is the culprit in this case. That is why for large media libraries Control4 recommends an HC1000. Night and day difference when browsing songs on a touch screen I tell yah. What do you have as a system right now?
PixelPerfect
To be completely honest, my whole system is really old.Controller- AVM-MC1-BAV Matrix- AVM-16S1-BThere is some music stored on the controller, but everything else is stored on a NAS. thecodeman
Upgrading your controller will make a big difference. If you're not using the audio endpoint, it can be disabled for a small boost on the touchpanel.
RyanE
The Media Controller is likely the worst offender. The Audio Switch isn't going to make any difference in the speed of the system, but a faster master controller definitely would.RyanE
PixelPerfect
Could the controller I have now be put in a slave position and bring a hc-500 in as a primary. Or should I just drop that controller completely.

PixelPerfect
That was what I was thinking about doing with it. Just strip it of being the master controller. I guess it's time to bit the bullet and buy a new controller. Thanks for the answers guys.
RyanE
As the HC-500 is no longer sold (discontinued), I'd suggest something else.RyanE
PixelPerfect
I would love to get an HC-1000, but they are just a little out of my price range. Would the 300 be an improvment? or should I just wait and spend the money to get the 1000?
nikon
The 300 would be an improvement for sure. 300C even more so.
RyanE
I'd recommend if you're just doing it for the speedup to get the 300C, and don't run anything but Director on it.(i.e. no Navigator or any other services)RyanE
PixelPerfect
Just let the media controller handle everything else, this won't slow it down?
RyanE
If you're only running Director on the master, and everything else on the Media Controller, Director will run quite a bit faster.Media lookups, etc., are handled through Director.RyanE
thecodeman
Just let the media controller handle everything else, this won't slow it down?Be aware that if you're running the navigator on the MC or HTC, it's still SD and legacy (IE - won't be the new 2.0 interface).
