HAH. Tell that to my client that had a strike THROUGH THE CONCRETE PAD next to his house.

    Not the house.

Not the rod ON his house.

Not the many trees around the house.

Not the comm tower some 500f away from the house

No it went into, through and cracking apart the concrete pad to fuse the re-bar as it travelled through to hit his powerline to the house.

Simplified school physics will tell you that electricity will always choose the path of least resistance: but that's HEAVILY simplified and certainly does not take all possible factors of what that path of 'least resistance' looks like in real life.

Remember folk, don't hide under a tree in a lighting storm. 😉

Here in Florida I have seen plenty a direct strikes. House dormer, HAM radio towers, transformers, Tv antennas, gate opener. Lightning always finds the comm cable its job security. If you put a cable in the ground it is just a matter of time around here!

Even ISP require fiber tracer to be grounded

@msgreenf is an Android fanboy - he may know if there is a geofencing solution for Android.  Fing works on Android, and through IFTTT but there may be something more direct/elegant

I use a Lutron caseta dimmer and program off that. Its in my office so Im the only user.  On means Im home, Off means Im not. I do have some programming to work around Good Night mode and the light being off.

Add a timer and the Ubiquiti driver for my phones wifi connectivity and my front door actually unlocks before I get to it.

I’ll look into something else I can come up with.

Put an ir emitter on it and add a rx-v6xx ir driver, copy/learn z2 ir codes as the main codes for the new driver, connect your end point to room "Patio", add "Patio" to announcement, done!

thats your best bet, you have just had free advice from some of the best C4 guys around, myself not included in that statement!

If you have the control in place already though, provided you've got a CORE controller in your system you could just get a zwave tilt sensor (i think nyce no longer does their zigbee one, or that would be an option).

Since this topic has come up, will the Nyce (non C4 zigbee) sensors work now that zigbee has been updeated? Ive had a couple on my desk for 5 yrs +/-

I don’t use the schedules so much. So the C4 app not getting an updated house temp is aggravating.

and when I do use schedules, C4 not getting the updates temps etc is so annoying.

    are you having similar issues?

I dont think this is a driver issue as the resideo app does not update when I raise the temp manually at the tstat. It does show the hold til next schedule change but the displayed temp is the current temp and not the target temp.

I do use voice commands regularly and that shows the change on the tstat within 5 seconds

Is this the same driver that the Honeywell WiFi thermostats use? The total connect one? It’s what I use and yeah it’s hit or miss. I rarely adjust the thermostat so it’s not that big a deal for me.

same, rarely touch tstat. As the house changes modes the tstat schedule is about the same for each mode. I do have programming too for certain modes and I release holds when leaving so it go back to schedule
