  1. Thank you for all the help and troubleshooting At this point, I would need to get my dealer out to do any actual re-terminating, testing, etc. That's beyond my scope and ability
  2. No, there's a separate unused power plug off the end of the cable (outside the house) that used to power the analog cams The Lilin cams are all being powered over the POE switch via just the CAT5 - I just don't know why the 2 wires from the CAT5 were stripped out and put into that green plug I've sent all this info and pics to my dealer and, as usual, have not heard back from them in a week or so I don't know if the 3 other Lilin cams are wired the same way (ie, with the 2 wires stripped off) or if they're just straight CAT5 into the cam with nothing else
  3. Yes but they were analog and so got power over a regular power cable rather than over POE
  4. Yes that is correct, just plugged the CAT5 straight into the switch and the other end straight into the camera and it powered up and worked without any issues
  5. I thought that's what I used already - the cable tester from Amazon that someone had recommended earlier in the thread
  6. Not the port, I tried different ports and it still didn't work
  7. Not sure what you're asking - it's simple, the camera was installed and worked for about a year or a bit longer, but now it doesn't work Camera was then removed and tested connected directly to the switch and was working fine So, camera is working and something is not working from the switch all the way out to the exterior camera mount location (and we're assuming it's the cable that's not working)
  8. Can try to do that later when I have some time to go outside, get the ladder out, etc.
  9. I can do that, but would have to be later...will have to pull out the ladder, unmount the camera (I kept it up there to protect the wires, though it's not actually connected to the CAT5 or green power plug any longer)
  10. I should clarify - the light stopped working when the feed died; when the camera/feed was working, the light was blinking green just like the other 3 Lilin cameras connected to the POE switch
  11. The end outside the house has 6 wires plus the 2 pulled out into that green plug The end inside the house (in the rack) has 8 wires
  12. power light wasn't coming on even when both ends were plugged in
  13. The light for that port on the POE switch isn't green - it's not on at all (not even blinking or anything like the other ones)
  14. It's IP and it's plugged into a POE switch back in the rack
  15. I believe these are POE cameras (Lilin) but those two wires were pulled out from the 8 wires in the CAT5 cable
  16. So I ordered the item that was linked above and did some testing last weekend. 1: does anybody know why two wires were pulled out of the CAT5 and plugged into the camera separately as shown in the picture? 2: test on 'network' setting outside the house - '2' was a bit dim and 3/4 didn't light up at all...I guess those are the two wires pulled out and plugged into the camera separately? Why would '2' be dim? 3: same 'network' setting test inside the rack - all 8 lights are lighting up, full intensity - nothing dim / nothing off 4: when the device in the rack was set to 'Scan', the device outside the house showed all lights fully bright except 3 and 4 - again I'm guessing 3/4 are off b/c those wires are pulled out from the main ethernet cable? Is there anything that can be deduced from this info? Thanks
  17. Thanks for the replies, I’ll check that amazon link out
  18. Interesting, how cheap are these 'cheap' testers? Something I can just buy off Amazon and start working on myself, as it would probably take some time and expense for my dealer to make it out
  19. Imagine an L-shaped single story house with the rack at one end of the L and the dead camera feed at the other end of the L - that's the problem I'm dealing with The particular camera feed has been dead for several months - nothing shows up in C4 and no feed shows up when accessing the camera directly through it's address in a web browser I finally got around to pulling it off the exterior wall this weekend and plugging it directly into the POE switch in the rack - as soon as I did that, the camera turned on and I was able to get a live feed in the web browser So, it seems the camera is fine, but something is wrong with the wiring somewhere between the POE switch, through the attic and all the way out to the ethernet termination outside the house The other cameras plugged into the POE switch have been working fine and I did try plugging this particular camera's CAT5 into different ports within the switch several months ago as part of my initial troubleshooting, but no luck My question - how do I trouble shoot this? Thanks
  20. So this is weird - while working on more programming today within HE, I noticed the following regarding my button 3 problem: -if I 'execute' button 3 within HE, then the LED changes to the appropriate 'on' color and stays on (and the commands for that button are executed correctly) -however, if I physically press button 3 on the keypad itself, then the LED just stays on the 'off' color, though the commands that are programmed for that button are still executed correctly Weird...
