  1. I've begun to have issues with my Luma NVR no longer processing notifications to email/phone.  Apparently, Gmail is no longer allowing less secure apps to use their service for this type of function as of the end of May.

What email services are people using?  I've tried multiple email accounts and all fail to deliver any notifications.  (Test fail in the NVR)

Control4 OS 3.3 update adds RGBW Lighting support

Today Control4 announced the release of OS 3.3.  Chowmain Software & Apps has been working diligently with Control4 to upgrade or rewrite many of our lighting drivers to provide support for some exciting new features which add full color wheel options to the Control4 interface along with color temperature and many product specific features.

6 drivers by Chowmain are available now with OS 3.3 lighting support

Existing customers that have purchased these drivers in the past will get to upgrade to the newest driver for free.  For those who have not utilised our drivers before all of our drivers come with a 90 day trial.

Link below to mailblast with further details.

What is the difference between the previous version and this version?  As you know I was having issues with my LIFX bulbs with this driver only dropping to 1% as the lowest setting (not off even when set to 0% command was used) previously on the previous driver so want to know what is different/updated/upgraded here?

  3. Having some issues with my new Galaxy S 22 phone and inability to receive push notifications.  I checked all phone settings and it shows all notifications for C4 are allowed.  One thing I did notice in the mycontrol4 account was that the phone is listed as an authorized device but under the MY ACCOUNT>NOTIFICATIONS area the phone doesn't show up at all to configure.  I have the Control4 phone app installed, up to date, and working just fine.  Not sure what else to do to make sure I'm getting push notifications on this new device.

  4. 2 questions here:

    1) what is the best setting for a dimmer switch or keypad dimmer to allow for ramping light level up/down?  I have a keypad dimmer running sink lights in bathroom newly installed and it's instantly on/off without ability to ramp up/down.  click rate is 2 sec, hold ramp rate up is 5 sec, hold ramp rather down is 5 sec....  this should work?

    2) I seem to be losing my preset ON/OFF LED light settings on certain lights.  I have them programmed for keypad dimmer buttons to be green if a light is on and red if off.  However, randomly I've been having the LED settings get lost and default back to black.  When I go into Composer I switch back to RED/GREEN accordingly and then it works again.  LED behavior is set to PROGRAMMED and I use a macro for each room to set LED colors on switches pertaining to the room.

  5. I was in Composer (MONITORING) last night and noticed that there is a check box for "Show equalizer in Navigator".  I checked the box for all rooms that have audio but don't see any change on my remotes or my phone app.  I'm not sure what this does unless it only shows up on screen from EA controller connection?.... any input on this?

Darn worst timing!!!  I just replaced 20 LIFX bulbs with Hue because I couldn't get the Axxon driver working!  The Chowmein one worked but it only uses cloud which I really don't like.  The Axxon Engineering one says it uses local control but I could never get it to detect any of my bulbs no matter what I'd do even though they are detected right away in Home Assistant and Hubitat.  So gave up and replaced all of them with Hue.  I'll give this driver a try after also as maybe I can figure out a use for 20 LIFX bulbs now lol.

I originally had the Hue lights but I didn't like a hub and ditched that for LIFX a couple of years ago.... However, there was always a lag with the Chowmain driver using the cloud.  If you wanted to change the light quickly it would take anywhere up to 5-10 seconds before additional command would be accepted. Then the final issue was with recent LIFX firmware update the lowest 1% setting the Chowmain would set the lights at (could not turn off and or get 0% no matter what programming command you'd use) I'd get random turning on of lights at anytime of day or night at 1%.  1% at 3am in your bedroom is still a light you're staring at in bed!

So with the Berto driver it is absolutely the best of all aspects,...... light level actually goes to zero, the response time is instantaneous, you can use the lighting agent if you want, and no cost....

I actually finally ordered some additional LIFX bulbs now that I feel like the LIFX bulbs are up to par with what they should be as I was never quite satisfied with the previous driver and the lagging then the final straw was the turning on  at the 1%

I don’t know about the Berto option. This could be interesting if the LIFX servers go down. What do you need to use the Berto LIFX driver? Do you have to run a raspberry pi to make it work?

Using the LIFX servers has lag time and you can't enter commands simply back to back or you won't get a response.  This driver is actually faster than the LIFX app which is already pretty fast but this is immediate.  Huge props on the this driver and can't say enough good things after dealing with issues of lag time and now after recent firmware update, I was having bulbs come on at the 1% setting that other drivers considered OFF and no way of getting lower brightness with other drivers than that 1%....

  8. I'm wanting to add my Hikvision DS-HD1 doorbell camera to my C4 system (and possibly use the motion detection to trigger events).  I have normally used my Luma system for my cameras but with house I just moved into, there was no way to hardwire a camera to front door area easily so went with the doorbell.  It works great for 2 way communication and video etc but wondering how that would be integrated into C4.  Is there a specific driver for this device?

The LIFX API has seperate ON and OFF commands along with level commands.  The driver will send an OFF command should it receive a 0% value.  Any other value will cause the driver to send an ON command along with a brightness level.

Note that the driver does not arbitarily send commands so please check your programming to make sure that you don't have any rogue programming causing your lights to turn on.

the OFF command does not send a 0% value to LIFX and the set brightness to 0% does not set brightness to 0% both of these commands will only set the bulb to 1% at the lowest as shown in the pictures above.  Now after firmware update of the bulbs via LIFX this past weekend the bulbs will come on at the lowest 1% brightness setting.

  10. I've started having some issues the last several days with LIFX lights controlled by the Chowmain driver which seems to be after a firmware update to the lights occurred.  1 or 2 of the lights in my master bedroom set of 4 will randomly turn on in the middle of the day or night to the lowest brightness.  As it has been all along, the lowest brightness setting that Control4 can set the LIFX lights to is 1% based on the LIFX app even though the setting in Control4 is set to 0%.  Is there a way to not only prevent this random turning on and also force the value set in Control4 of zero to also be zero in the LIFX app?  Has anyone else had this issue?

  11. So I've added the Card Access relay module (first picture) in Composer but as a Card Access relay there are literally no commands/actions (second picture).  If I add a generic Control4 relay there is little in the way of adjustments under MONITORING but it appears that the actions of opening/closing garage door are there.  Not sure why opening/closing wouldn't be available in the Card Access driver for this....  Am I missing something here using the Card Access Relay driver to perform the garage open/close function?

  12. Just looking at purchasing a set of the Card Access wireless relays for my new house garage doors which are 2008 Liftmaster.  I'm assuming one just connects the 2 relay points to the garage opener and the unit needs to have power to it (ie a 12v plug for example)?  Any other help on this as I can't seem to find any manual or instructions online for use with a garage door open close application.
