HeliNut
... compression quality by using similar compression in blu-ray - a "lossless" compression vs the lossy compression previously used.... HD/IP™ 2G can now deliver visually lossless HDMI® video quality.... and a proprietary lossless codec. "These statements contradict themselves. I've talked to the JAP people at CEDIA and they will talk themselves in a circle of you have enough time. The simple fact is that it compresses the video using a lossy algorithm, or as they like to call it, visually lossless (maybe visually impaired lossless). However my vision is different from theirs apparently, and I can see the lossy artifacts. On some materials like 24 frame movies it is tolerable especially on a 40" or less TV. But on 60 frame material it is noticeable. They say that the data that they throw away is minor, but it just bugs me that they create this whirlwind of BS that they use lossless compression when its not. It's lossy.
Digital Vision
I can highly recommend the Atlona products. I have installed quite a few of the 4x4, 8x8, 4x8, and 16x16 (MONSTER!) units. they can run on either single CAT5/6/7 or dual. Price point is good, too. Let me know if you would like a quote.
