Radio Thermostat CT80 - Temperature and HUMIDITY control

Don't get hot and bothered!

The CT80 from the Radio Thermostat Company of America is the ideal solution for climate control where you also need to control humidity. Many areas either need to humify or dehumidify the air to provide the ideal indoor climate. Up till now it has not been possible to provide this facility from within Control4 as the native thermostat does not provide any humidity control. The Extra Vegetables driver and Radio Thermostat's CT80 now provide the ideal solution in these circumstances.

To learn more about the CT80 visit the Radio Thermostat website http://www.radiothermostat.com/control.html. For more details on the Control4 integration either visit the Extra Vegetables website http://www.extravegetables.com/products/radio-thermostat-ct80 or read on...

Easy Retrofit

The CT80 is designed to easily retrofit a standard thermostat in a matter of minutes. It does require that either you have power from the furnace Common © wire or an external power supply to power the built in WiFi module. This is because the CT80 is a standard WiFi device that connects to the home network to enable it to communicate to the Control4 system.

The CT80 has a number of advanced features:

:) The CT80 works with nearly every HVAC system - including traditional furnaces and heat pumps.

:) Can control 3 stages of heating and 2 stages of cooling. This allows for more precise temperature regulation and less fluctuation with today's most sophisticated HVAC systems.

:) True Auto mode to switch automatically between heat and cool depending on environmental factors.

:) The CT80 can control an external air baffle for fresh air ventillation.

:) Can also control an external humidifier AND de-humidifier.

:) You can program up to 7 independent periods per day. (Only six supported with Control4)

:) Can monitor and control your HVAC system based on humidity as well as temperature.

Driver Features

The driver on its own allows you to control the temperature set points and scheduling using the familiar Control4 thermostat interface. The driver also provides Custom Programming options to set the Humidifier and DeHumidifier modes and set points. If your customer is happy to adjust the Humidity settings from the CT80 itself then this is all you need. Temperature can be monitored and controlled from the Control4 system and the CT80 will also continue to control the Humidity but there will be no feedback onto the Control4 interfaces.

Optional 4Store App

If you want complete control over the temperature and the humidity from your Control4 system then just add the optional 4Store App to the system with the driver. This provides an enhanced control interface for the thermostat. The main screen of the App shows the current Temperature and Humidity levels along with the status of the HVAC and Humidity control systems. From this page you can also set the mode of the HVAC system, the heating and cooling set points, the hold period and fan control.

A second page provides control over the Humidifier or DeHumidifier in the property. For each of these (including an External DeHumidifier) you can set the mode required and the humidity set point. The main page of the App also provides access to the special features of the CT80 such as Energy Save mode and Air Baffle (Fresh Air) control.

See more details at the 4Store http://www.4store.com/?q=node/45&appid=10400661194f918a3bb2e7d7.83689779.

Special Features

As well as control of the climate we have also provided a few additional features in the driver to make it that little bit more special. Firstly there are two text areas on the CT80. We provided commands that allow you to write to this area from the driver. You can write any text you like here, so it could be any form of notification or even a short weather forecast summary from an online service.

You will also find commands that allow you to vary the backlight level of the CT80. This is great where a CT80 is installed in a bedroom and you need to dim the backlight at night and brighten it during the day. These are simple things that can make the install so much better for your customers.

Purchasing the CT80

The CT80 can be purchased directly from Radio Thermostat and has a retail list price of $249.95.

Driver and App purchases

The driver is available now from the Extra Vegetables website for purchase by dealers. Once installed on a Control4 system you can purchase and download the optional 4Store App from a user interface for $15.99 per installation.

Requirements

* The driver requires that a CT80 rev B using a WiFi card running firmware 1.04.82 or higher. Only these versions support humidity control.

* The driver is not compatible with the CT30 or other Radio Thermostat products.

* The driver is suitable for both HC250 and HC800 controllers in line with the loading recomendations as published by Control4.

* The standard Control4 thermostat interface for control is available on all Control4 interfaces.

* The optional 4Store App will run on all varities of the 7" and 5" panels (wired and wireless). No 4Store App can run on the iOS or Android platforms.

is there a generic wifi thermostat manufacturer in China that makes these and branded by individual companies? They all look the same; will the driver work for only the Radio Thermostat Company of America model?
