shareez
Hello guys,This may sound a little ridiculous but I currently have a 16ch wirepath DVR. I know that it records video and I can add additional backup to have more space and record for longer periods of time but I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to use NVR software to record each of the 16 streams? Something like SecuritySpy so that I can have a 2nd backup copy stored elsewhere in the house?thanks
THEORY
Are you Columbian?I would think you could take the streams from the DVR and have an NVR then record them. I can't see any issues off hand but never tried it.
shareez
Lol I'm not columbian. Why would you ask that? So how do I access these individual streams?
THEORY
I figured a Columbian would need an NVR to backup his DVRThe wirepath dvr has individual streams the C4 uses to show the stream. You should be able to put the stream URL's into an NVR.
shareez
Haha.I understand that there are different streams but how do i access these streams? I tried looking in the options but i couldnt find anything? The DVR only has one IP address. Does that mean each stream is accessible through different ports? For example, 192.168.1.5:80 is camera 1, 192.168.1.5:81 is camera 2, etc etcI tried researching on the product manual for these "separate streams" but had no luck. I wonder how C4 accesses these streams separately...
Cyknight
[iP Address]/wps-cgi/jpg/image.cgi?camera=1&resolution=[Resolution] is the URL used for camera 1, you can change the camera number and get the next etc. Resolution would be 320x120 or 680x480 within C4, although I assume other resolutions would be possible - you could check that using IE and changing the values, or find the manual online and see what res it supports. shareez
Hey cyknight,I finally got a chance to attempt to access these individual streams and the address you put up there retired with an error: "502 Bad Gateway The CGI was not CGI/1.1 compliant."The address i had in was : http://192.168.x.x:81/wps-cgi/jpg/image.cgi?camera=1&resolution=320x120am i doing something wrong? do i need to use a particular browser? Cyknight
You shouldn't need the port in there at all, wirepath as a default uses port 80 only. the {camera=1} would be the internal identifier for which stream you access.
shareez
but the device was configured for port 81(done by my dealer because at the time, we forwarded port 80 for remote access). when i removed the port 81, it just shows me "page cannot be displayed"
THEORY
I believe you need the user name and password in the URL also. If you don't have the ability to view anonymously.

AP-123
FWIW, I returned my wirepath 16 channel NVR to SnapAV. Worthless IMO. I kept the 2MP wirepath IP cams and used the ONVIF config in my Synology Diskstation. Just needed to buy some camera licenses but couldn't be happier about the change. The cameras are still accessible via C4 but now I also have a working NVR. Check out Surveillance Station on Synology's website for a full list of features. Even bought a upgraded DS1513+ with a few WD red drives. All in much less than the wirepath and a ton more features. Most importantly, it works. What else can you do with your Synology? A lot...http://www.synology.com/surveillance/index.php?lang=us#ss_spec
EDDY7
AP-123: I think you are right on the money. I actually bought my Synology 212J ( 6TB) to keep a collection of my movies. I was surprice to know how many stuff it can be used for especially the IP camera monitoring. I think is the best thing yet for monitoring IP cameras an recordings. shareez
Hey guys! sorry to bring this back up. Thank you THEORY! Everything you said worked really well but i found something very odd when I added those addresses to SecuritySpy. Only some would work and the others wouldn't. I have 16 ch DVR and maybe 25% would give me a video and the others won't but when i quit and restart the app, a *different* 25% would work. For example, sometimes only cameras 2, 4, 5, and 8 would work and other times, 4, 9. 14, and 16 would. Basically it's random. Now whatever cameras work on security spy do not work on the C4 UI. For example, lets say only camera 1-4 only had video displayed on SecuritySpy. When I go into the c4 UI to view cameras 1-4, i can't see the video but 5-16 work. When i quit security spy, all 16 cameras work again on the C4 UI. Is it possible that the feeds above can only send to one destination? so either security spy OR the C4 UI can have access to a camera feed at any particular time but not both at the same time? Any input would be great! Thanks in advance
