jmb Posted October 6, 2014 Share Posted October 6, 2014 I have a set of lights on a stairwell that can be controled by one of three switches, top, middle, and bottom of the stairs.. Can I replace the master switch and leave the other two OR do I need to replace all three with one C4 switch and two Aux keypads?What's the difference between the dumb switches and the aux keypad?Thanks in advance. Cyknight Posted October 6, 2014 Share Posted October 6, 2014 The Aux switches are cheaper devices compared to others that will allow ONLY control of the associated light. They 'communicate' to the 'master' switch via a control wire and are not part of the C4 system. They are also not backlit.The alternative is to use keypads which would allow for more functionality - or if you want you can do a combination too to have a keypad in one location where it's useful and then have an Aux unit in the third location.
