sabo888
Very excited to adventure into the control 4 system as I am close to signing with my dealer for a custom house we are building. With that said, I will have 8 zones of distributed audio using the 24 by 24 Triad matrix (future growth too), but do you have better options for a power amp to supplement it? I was quoted for a Triad 8 zone for 1700.00. This seems a bit overpriced considering there maybe better options for power. Any recommendations that would still communicate flawlessly in the control 4 system? I currently only need power for at least 8 zones for now...will add another amp with later zone additions. Lastly, I am using 8" KEF ceiling speakers CI200ERs. Thanks!
SMHarman
The price is not far off market. I'm using the AMX Alero By Harman 8 Zone Power Amplifier (Alero ALR-AMP-8) 16 Distribution Channels of True Audophile Quality Sound and Highly Efficient, Hear-Dissipating Class D Power AmplificationBut that is because I got one for a great price on eBay. But on amazon it's $1400.Specifically you get 1RU of 8 zone amplification with cool class D amps. You can use any amp with remote switching and the Control4 power amp driver but your dealer knows the Triad one and will be more comfortable dealing with that and warranty issues. If something happened to random cheaper amp you are not going to get the dealer to do a swap while the amp is being repaired or warranty claimed. They will pull it and leave you amp free for the weeks it is going back to the manufacturer etc. The Triad they can come out with a spare and almost hot swap it to keep your system ticking along. Many reasons to work within their guard rails. It keeps your system ticking along. South Africa C4 user
Thepritch88
I’ve always thought the Triad amp is great value, it’s sounds great and integrates perfectly. You could use any multi-zone amp really though, preferably one with trigger inputs or audio sensing to turn it on but you could get one thats left on all time if you wanted, not recommended though. sabo888
Good points, but that Harman amp seems nice especially if it has good power at 16 channels!
sabo888
I am certain the Triad amp has 12 volt triggers right?
SMHarman
I am certain the Triad amp has 12 volt triggers right? Both that Harman amp and the Triad have 12v triggers. The Harman also has a feedback relay to connect to a contact and confirm on / off status and a further two contact outputs for overcurrent and thermal protection. I think triad does that by IP. Fascinating to look at the Harman booklet and see the example code that needs writing for an AMX system vs the relay binding and endpoint binding for a C4 system. Wow that code base approach is fiddly.
LollerAgent
For what it's worth - I have an Episode 12chan/6zone amp and a Triad PAMP in my system. The Triad makes my speakers sound better. I have compared the two within the same zone/speakers. Both work though, and the Episode is great for my non-critical areas (bathrooms, porch, dining room, etc). They both have 12V triggers that integrate perfectly with my Triad AMS24 matrix.
