Looking to add soundbar as a bedroom TV option

Recommended Posts

We currently use distributed audio and video (Leaf Matrix/Triad amp) with in-ceiling speakers in all of our viewing rooms, including our master bedroom.

My hearing is not the best, and at night we find the audio from the (KEF) ceiling speakers to be less than ideal for TV viewing.  I'd like to add a soundbar as an option for TV audio.  Questions :

  1. Recommendations ? : I see good reviews of the Sonos Arc, but we don't need the Sonos functionality.  Needs to be active.
  2. What's the best way to program through C4 for an alternative audio endpoint ?  Need to have something fairly intuitive so that my wife can use it easily.

TV is a recent 65" Sony LED, so should be fine in terms of ARC, optical etc as needed.  Priority is clear TV dialogue, and no additional subwoofer or extension speakers.  Not bothered about surround or other effects.

Ah, got it.  How would you handle the ceiling speakers vs the soundbar if we want to choose between them ?  Or is it simply a case of having the soundbar as the video audio endpoint, and the ceiling speakers for music and be done with it ?

Which one did you get, if you don't mind me asking ?

That one! Yup. I use the soundbar as tv audio and ceiling speakers as audio.

I also have the sub and rears setup on the soundbar. Works great in my basement.
