Time2Jet
Can someone explain to me whether it's possible to get a chime snapshot or video to PIP or Overlay on a display in a matrix with an Nvidia Shield Pro?
OceanDad
Splash-Tiles can display PIP or overlay snapshot, or JPEG at up to approx 10fps to give a kind of simulated video stream. However, it does that by accessing the video stream/snapshot URL. I've set it up on a few Hikvision cameras/NVR's, and it works OK, although the frames per second has been a bit variable across different hardware. I haven't installed a Chime, but I don't see a URL property in the driver. Maybe others can chime (!) in here as to whether there is an externally accessible URL for the snapshot. Splash Tiles cannot handle RTSP - that's a Net Play feature only. It will work with Android devices, so that's OK with your Shield Pro. I prefer to use my Sony TV's as the 'device', as I can then overlay any source with a small PIP. You can set the display time. One more thing - if you've never used NetPlay/Splash Tiles before, prepare to be a bit confused/frustrated with the interface to set things up. It's clunky, to say the least. videostorm
JPEG @ 5 fps or MJPEG @ ~10fps => SplashTiles (splash-tiles.com) RTSP 4Kp60 (or lower) => NetPlay (video-storm.com) Both will work perfectly on Shield Pro. They can display as full screen (single, tiled, or mixed display), as a configurable PIP window, or as transparent "floating" overlay. Completely integrated with C4. SplashTiles can give you a lot more than just camera feeds, so it can be a bit confusing to get started. There are video tutorials on the site, and we also have dedicated C4 setup instructions. The C4 drivers are free as well. You can always reach out to us for help if you need it. BTW, we have a new toy available for beta testing which will help with those Hikvision cameras ====> CameraBridge It solves the issue with digest Auth MJPEG streams. Thanks, will definitely give this a spin.
OceanDad
@videostorm I tried to CameraBridge working earlier. Everything installs OK, but I can't access the Rpi on the local network. I can ping it OK, and I can ping another computer on the internal network from it. Does your setup install a web server ? If I try netstat -tln I don't see a listener on port 9087. I'm really rusty around Linux, so maybe I'm doing something silly but I followed the instructions to the letter. Thanks.
OceanDad
Ha - just solved it. Restart of the Rpi. That autostarts Camerabridge. (I'd already edited /etc/rc.local but it needs a reboot to get things going) videostorm

You could use a ONVIF browser on your phone to find the "Snapshot URL" of the Chime camera. Here is an example for Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.biyee.onvifer&hl=en_US&gl=US Then you can use that URL with Splashtiles to display as overlay or PIP.
