witt312
I had an AppleTV die and purchased the most recent version (128gig w/ ethernet) as a replacement. Did Apple change the location of the IR receiver on the front? I cannot get it to respond to any commands from the IR flasher and have tried many locations. My installer insisted on using IR to get around prior IP-control issues. The system is still running fine otherwise on an HC800 (most recent possible sw version), would it even support to new native IP control? Thanks for the help. Cyknight
Yes, different models different placement. Nice thing is, all blink the white led when receiving commands, so just select the apple tv on a remote, make sure it's on (not asleep - power cycle if needed) and press up (or down, or ....) and move the node around along the front of the unit to find the spot. Some are dead centre, some are lightly to the right, some are slightly to the left.....it's annoying really
witt312
@Cyknight - Thanks for the suggestion of leveraging the status light to track down the sensor. For anyone else dealing with the similar exercise, the ir-reciever moved to just below the top edge of the case, basically directly above where it used to be on the left side. witt312
That pic unfortunately isn't accurate for the newest 2022 generation. Its directly above the green dot, the emitter is almost flush with the top when turned sideways. Amr

Yes these are pre 2022, I didn’t know that they shifted the receiver for 2022, am IP based anyways but good to know, thanks. So another circle on top of the green one for 2022 model, okay will edit the pic
Cyknight
And either 1st or 2nd generation of the 4k is slightly different too, (lower or higher, maybe a hair more to centre - I can't honestly be bothered to remember as it's simply enough to find anyway)
