Hello everyone.  I have a control4 wall dimmer switch that has gone bad.  My dealer said the switches are $215.  I don't want to pay that much.  Can I replace the switch with a regular dimmer switch?

The reasonability of that price depends a lot on on what specific dimmer your dealer is putting in, if it includes install and programming etc.

If just product, there's a cheaper option in the Essential line that may save you some.

The question on if you can install a regular dimmer or switch depends on the wiring: can't begin to say how easy or hard it is, let alone if you'd be 'capable' to do it vs needing an electrician.

Of course you'd lose any related control.

do you want automation and control over that load? if the answer is yes then the answer to your questions is no.

If a less expensive switch is available to do the same job as Lutron caseta, you could use those and still automate it, but then you are splitting your ecosystems. 

the price is reasonable and low enough that replacing one makes a lot of sense. if you had to do a bunch then it make more sense.

Control4 lighting is also really reliable so I would be concerned more about why it failed.
