So, I think I've figured out how to use a relay to tell the Control4 system whether or not the power is out in my house (my UPS units don't communicate to anything other than the NAS).
I'm thinking there may be pratical use for THIS driver to turn some things back on that default turn on when power is supplied, by DO support WOL (my NAS is a good example of this). Does anyone know how I find out what the HTTP GET command is, or if there even is one, for the NAS? It can be powered on from a web console, would I just use WIRESHARK to sniff out that traffic? Would I track it somehow using my PFSense Firewall? I'm assuming that this can be used to send a WOL packet, or am I off here? I'm not an expert on that stuff.
It doesn't currently support WOL but great idea. I'll implement it and roll it out next week. Will also do HTTP Post whilst i'm at it and general UDP packets. Keep the idea coming.

Could also be used to integrate pretty much any push notification service as well now that i think about it (eg http://pnotify.com/)
Hrmm yes and no now that i look into it. pnotify uses http post. my driver only supports http get. Though you could write the custom HTTP post packet through the TCP message side of the driver and yes that would work but with a little more effort.

Chowmain - Generic TCP Command Driver
Control4 allows for you to easily integrate infra red based audio/visual devices but it does not give you the ability to integrate TCP/IP based devices easily.
This is where the Chowmain generic tcp command driver comes in. With customisable actions you can now easily fire off TCP or HTTP commands to any device or service contactable from your network.
Features- Everything is programmed from the actions tab
- HTTP commands
- Supports URL encoded usernames, passwords and ports eg http://192.168.1.131:32400/library
- Support for HTTP GET and HTTP Post
- Support for HTTPS
- Ascii based TCP commands
- Definable IP Address, Port and Command
- Command can contain special character delimiters such as carriage returns or line feeds (eg \r\n).
- Ascii based UDP commands
- Definable IP Address, Port and Command
- Command can contain special character delimiters such as carriage returns or line feeds (eg \r\n).
- Wake-On LAN command
- Can be used to wake up a sleeping or powered off device that supports wake on lan (eg computers or NAS drives).
- Can be used to quickly integrate devices not normally integrated within Control4’s driver wizard by adding tcp commands to their events page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you give us some examples of how we could use this driver?
* This driver is useful to fire commands to shut down NAS drives, fire off camera triggers, fire off commands to your PC using event ghost.* This driver can be used to access HTTP Post services such as SMS gateways, push notification services such as prowl and pnotify.com
* This driver can be used to send Wake on Lan packets to supporting computers and NAS drives to turn them on from sleep or off modes.
Are there any other cool things we can do with this driver?
* You can also create quick simple IP based AV devices by firing off commands on the AV event. Though this is not substitution for a real IP driver it allows non driverworks developers to create simple drivers for their jobs where they cannot afford to hire a driverworks developer.

Chowmain - Generic Thermostat Driver (IR)
Split infrared controlled HVAC systems are quite common in Australia and New Zealand. The issue with these systems is that control is only one way, without any feedback what so ever. Furthermore each IR string contains code information about the mode, fan speed and set point within in. Given this you must learn every single combination of IR code to get full integration into your home automation system.
The Chowmain Generic IR Thermostat driver enables us to integrate infrared controlled HVAC systems into the Control4 system with feedback from a dry contact (to sense if it is on/off) and temperature input from the Control4 Thermostat, Axxess Motion Sensors, Card Access Contact Sensor or Relays.
This provides a total solution for what would be a one way system. Note this driver is only compatible with HVAC systems that utilize Celsius.
The two options we recommend for installation are as follows:
* Option A: 'Retrofit' via a card access Zigbee 2 IR device
* Option B: 'New Construction' via hard wired connection from a Control4 Controller or IO Extender.
In both cases installation is recommended on the interior of the heat pump chassis to ensure a clean look. However if this voids the manufactures warranty a tidy exterior installation can easily be done.
Features
* Inbuilt Web server for control, setup and backup or IR codes.
* Ability to test IR codes via the Web setup page.
* Heat, Cool & Auto HVAC modes supported.
* Low, Medium, High & Auto Fan modes supported.
* 16 – 30 degrees of Set Point supported.
* Temperature Feedback from Axxess Motion Sensor, Control4 Thermostat, Card Access Contact Sensor or Card Access Contact Relay.
* Power State Feedback via dry contact input.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you give us some examples of how we could use this driver?
* This driver is extremely useful for countries where IR based HVAC solutions are common. By combining it with 3rd party temperature inputs you get a fully integration IR HVAC solution within Control4.
Are there any other cool things we can do with this driver?
* This driver supports an optional contact input. This is useful for when the consumer utilises the existing IR remote control for feedback. It will set the mode to off when the unit shutter closes and to auto at the last setpoint when the unit shutter opens.
* This driver has an inbuilt webserver for setup and control. If the client is on their PC they can control their HVAC system by just visiting the URL specified in the properties page of the driver.
What hardware will this work on?
This will work on all IR based HVAC systems. Note that a 3rd party IR learner is required to learn the codes.
Temperature input is compatible with the Control4 Thermostat, Axxess Motion Sensor, Card Access Contact and Card Access Relay.
Where do i find IR backup files for existing systems?
You can download IR backup files from our website.

Chowmain - Belkin WeMo Driver
Control4 supplies the wireless outlet switch that makes any household plug-in device, like lamps, appliances and electronics part of the Control4 system by turning a standard outlet into a smart outlet.
Unfortunately this device is not available to the majority of the world as it only supports 120VAC voltage for US plug type devices.
Introducing the Belkin WeMo Switch. It has US/UK/AU-NZ plug types and is extremely affordable. This WiFi based power outlet supports up to 10amps and can be easily integrated into the Control4 home automation system using the Chowmain Belkin WeMo driver.
Features* Real-time feedback if using a the WeMo ios or android application
* Auto discovery of IP address and port by entering in the serial number of the WeMo
* Auto update of IP address and port upon change
* Abilty to connect driver to outlet light or relay device drivers which in turn allows you to view the correct icon on navigator interface or even eliminate standby power on AV based devices.
* Ability to connect driver to keypad buttons (with LED feedback) to allow for quick on/off/toggle programming
* On/Off feedback from the device.* Insight energy usage feedback to properties page and variables.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you give us some examples of how we could use this driver?
* In Australia we do not have access to the Control4 outlet switch. As such we cannot easily integrate floor lamps, bedside table lights, fans, electric heaters, towel rails, etc easily. This driver fills in the gap to integrate these devices into the Control4 system.
Are there any other cool things we can do with this driver?
* This driver allows connection to the Control4 outlet light driver and any relay based binding. As such you can get the correct icon on your navigator and also bind it to your AV device to minimise standby power.* This driver can also detect power usage statistics from the WeMo insight switch. This can be useful for programming energy management based actions.
* This driver allows connection to any Control4 keypad for ease of use programming.
What hardware will this work on?
This driver will work with the Belkin WeMo Switch (Model Number F7C027) and the Belkin WeMo Insight Switch (Model Number F7C029). It may work with other WeMo hardware however it has not been tested.
There are so many WeMo drivers out there why should i buy yours?
All WeMo drivers are based upon reversed engineering. As such they can all break at any time with a firmware update. Our driver has the ability to use the Houselogix auto update feature. As such the driver will automatically update to the latest version which we will release that fixes any protocol changes.

Chowmain - Generic Relay Driver (IR) Driver
Control4 allows for you to easily integrate infra red based audio/visual devices but it does not give you the ability to integrate infra red based motorized/relay devices.
This is where the Chowmain generic relay driver comes in. With customizable properties where you can enter in IR HEX codes you can now integrate infra red based motorized/relay devices into Control4 with the correct icon.
Features
Definable On/Off Hex IR codes in properties
* Easy to manage
* Can have multiple copies of the same driver with different IR codes
IR Binding
* You can bind it to any infra red output in your Control4 system.
Relay Binding
* Match it up to the nearest icon for your device
On/Off/Toggle functions
* With notifications to the proxy means that the client will know when the device is on/off (note that as it is IR based/without feedback it is assumed On/Off)
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you give us some examples of how we could use this driver?
* This driver is useful for integrating IR based motorised devices into Control4. This includes IR based blinds, fans, power outlets and more
Are there any other cool things we can do with this driver?
* Since the driver has definable properties you can have multiple drivers connected to the same IR port. This includes the IR blaster on supported controllers. This means that you can control any amount of IR based motorised devices on a singular IR port (upto the limitations of the port).
What hardware will this work on?
This driver will work on any IR controllable device through any IR output compatible with Control4. Examples include.
* Gas Fireplaces
* Blinds
* Fans
* Motorised Lifts
* Motorised Screens
* Power Outlets

C4SOAP is actual an internal non supported API. As such you'll pretty much find nothing about it online. It'll probably be better to write a driverworks driver with a serversocket and communicate to that way. You'll find you'll get more support from Control4 and there is a slimer chance that an update will break it.
-
I think you mean do what navigator can do but regardless of terminology good work.
-
You can only right click and export driver wizard drivers not driverworks.
-
Interesting. Thanks for the info craig. learn something new every day.
-
Dimmers and Switches should work regardless of communications to zigbee. Thats the beautiful thing about them. Flashing Red/Green as well is a bit of a concern as i've never heard of this colour combination. I would give C4 tech support a call as this does not sound normal.

I enrol fingers for new staff every few months ( we share our building with two sister companies ).
Takes 1 swipe to enrol. Extremely easy. Used for access control on some of our doors. We also use RFID as well as backup however this baby hasn't failed in 3 years.
Anyway stay tuned.

ekey actually is the only one i'm going to work on. Our whole office runs on ekeys and it is the only fingerprint reader we utilise in jobs.
Not only that but they are one of the more advanced units out there that allow for 3rd party integration via UDP, wiegand or worse case relay.
They do have a wide range of products so it'll suit the majority of styles.
-
is this the same project we spoke of last time?
-
Hi guys,
Just wanted to know how interested you guys would be in a driver that integrates a fingerprint scanner into Control4 that provides the following information
1. Username
2. Finger Scanned
3. Time of Scan
4. Date of Scan
5. plus more
Utilising this logic within Control4 you could do time of day based programming per user per finger to do whatever you want.
Currently all the finger print scanners i know of are low level. They only provide a relay output that just triggers a contact input on a Control4 system. Boring. So i figured why not make it a bit more exciting.
Anyway keep your eyes posted.

Chowmain - Generic TCP Command Driver
in Third Party Software
Posted
Nothing stopping you from using a free one. I'm just adding more features to mine to make mine the one stop driver for all generic commands
Wake On Lan and HTTP Post has been implemented into the driver. Driver will be pushed out via the Extra Vegetables auto update service to all those who already have the driver. Otherwise it'll be available to download from Extra Vegetables in the next few days.
This means that HTTP Post services such as pnotify.com, prowl, various online SMS gateways can now be easily integrated by anyone.
