  1. Heres my take, but please realize that C4 is a dealer platform so having a dealer you can rely on, helps in the overall experience.

    Getting multiple quotes is good.

    Networking

Ruckus is excellent and I have had no problems for years; prior had issues with Araknis but if the dealer is supporting, shouldn't have any issues.  The unifi debate I won't get into but realize C4 is dealer based so go with something that is recommended so its easily supported (unless your supporting it yourself).

    Surveillance

Cameras are all over but Luma works well.  I prefer a separate app although many can be integrated into C4 for programming which is helpful (per your request).

    Distributed Audio

Your solution is fine as long as its background music; You can spend alot of money on audio, but from your statement of expectations, is valid and it works.

    Security

Utilize what the dealer wishes to recommened and view demo with dealer;  You and your wife's expectations are easily met, but having it integrated correctly helps with the process and support.

    Lighting

C4 or Lutron work great; You can reduce wall clutter with keypads etc...  Again, planning with a dealer is key esepecially during construction.

    Locks

Do you have a style that works with the home; that would determine which brand you might choose; Your list is accurate, but its getting them that sometimes a pain (supply chain).

    HVAC

Both work well; Your correct on looks for Aprilaire but Ecobee works fine too.  Both integrate fine.

    Control, Rack

I would recommend you go with one of the NEW controllers to be released if your planning now (core); run Cat-6 everywhere you can; You didn't discuss distributed video; WattBox, UPS, etc...is just good practice and easily manageable if you have issues (dealer can help via remote).

  2. When I moved away from the GE Concord, I just removed everything and bought new (ClareVision).  For me it wasn't that expensive to just start over and get something that looked better while also integrated into C4 but its all relative.  I don't program off of sensors for the alarm system so I wasn't losing anything by starting over although you can still utilize Interlogix sensors.   When I first built my home and put in GE sensors everywhere I thought I would utilize C4 more in that regard, but ended up not; guess wishful thinking. I only use C4 integration with my alarm system for convenience and on/off progamming.

  3. Looking for feedback on AV receivers that integrate with C4.  Currently have 3 Denons using rs232 that are 8 years old and time to replace.  Had one go back already over holidays (kids and wife not happY!).  What is everyone using now?  Denon, Yamaha, Marantz, etc...  We don't use any of the stuff like Alexa, multiple zones, etc. on the receiver that most come with but it seems your forced to get all these bells/whistles.  Any suggestions or what to stay away from?

I don't think that will be the case as control4 is one of the family of snap one brands. Like Luma and all of the other brands. Snap AV was the umbrella company and now the umbrella is named snap one

Yeah, figured but wanted to ask...  Also, as zaphod asked, anyone know when the S-1 will come out?

  5. Not a doorbell in a sense that doesn't have a camera and button (comparing to doorbird, ring, chime, etc.).  Wall control is their marketing.  Would be great if they put a camera with it for streaming in a doorbell sense that I'm using it.

  6. Now that Flash is gone and the application to interact with C4 on a PC (not mac) is no longer available, any ideas on C4 making PC app?  With Zoom so prevelant in the workplace and people spending more time in their home office, one would think they would have been ahead of the game not behind, but no replacement exists does it?  On a mac, you can use the C4 app, on a PC your out of luck.  I know their are some ways around it, but just having a simple app to control all the automation makes sense (and not composer home or pro).

For 199 per screen if you use unifi protect you can add one of these for camera views.

I'm wandering if you need to have unifi cameras (or cloudkey) to use this device?  What if your using another brand of cameras but wish such a multiview display to be shown through HDMI if you plug into your POE switch that has all your POE cameras.  Does this work?
