What model you use? I’m not familiar with servers, will they run windows and allow me to use AnyDesk?i

I use an older one a Poweredge 860. I run windows 10 Pro on it with no issues. I’m not familiar with AnyDesk so I can’t comment on that.

I am setting up a new C4 based system and would like to have a computer running in the rack to permit more access for programming, etc. I was thinking of just keeping a cheap windows laptop on rack shelf which seem can be made to stay on even when lid is closed. Have others done this and worked well or other recommendations?

I use a dell poweredge 1U server for this. It also runs all my BI security. If you have it on rails you can even pull it out if needed. It acts as a good monitor/keyboard/mouse shelf too. Works good.

its just a mockup for my idea. its easier to identfy rooms by icons instead of text.
at the moment you can only change the background of a room and the icon will be showed in the room overview.
my idea was to have seperate pictures for that.

I like your mock-up you posted. It looks good. I’m going to play around with it and add some background images over the holidays similar to what you have in your picture posted above.

Ditto.  I use the beta driver to control three groups of shades so far (many, many left to do).  Pretty flawless once you dial it in.  Because I am lazy, I do wish that the driver itself incorporated more "logic" around controlling shades and not just sun position.  That said, the core "where is the sun right now?" function is awesome, and the programming is pretty straight forward.  After some tips from the developer, I got an iPhone app that makes it easy to "survey" your windows (in terms of where, in terms of azimuth and altitude, the sun enters and exits the positions when it will be annoyingly shining directly through window) and then do the programing around these events.   Makes shade automation "set and forget" instead of my prior delta-from-sunrise/sunset approach that required seasonal tweaking.

I also pull weather forecast and solar radiation / brightness from the Tempest weather station driver and use as conditionals so shades don't close when it's cloudy or cold.  Works like a charm.

Which iPhone app did you use to survey your windows?

I’ve tried doing this in various ways but for whatever reason it was always unreliable and created frustrations for everyone. I would love to see it reliably added natively to the app.

I’ve been using Chowmain’s IFTTT driver for geofencing ever since follow me stopped working and I must say it works great. It’s extremely rare it doesn’t work. Everyone in our house is iOS devices. Highly recommend it.
I also agree with you it would be nice to have it natively integrated into C4.

Hi, I am using Nest Thermostat to my project. I've added the Master Driver and followed the directions to connect to Google and to Control4 accounts and then added the Nest Driver. My problem is that after I add the driver was normally working , but after sometime I connection disconnected Anyone run into a similar problem and have a fix? Thanks in advance!

Nope. Nest is working fine for me.

  7. Reviving an old thread here. I use 3 managed pakedge 24 port switches in my system and when I set the ports to trunk nothing works.

    Router LAN 1 > Port 22 Switch 1

    Switch 1 SFP (port 24) > SFP (port 22) Switch 2

    Switch 2 SFP (port 24) > SFP (port 22) Switch 3

When setup like this and all of the above ports are set to trunk nothing works. If I switch them all to hybrid everything works just fine. Never had any luck with trunks. Not sure why. Perhaps a pakedge expert can chime in.

  8. Hi all

I (think) i'm having a network issue and I'm wondering if someone can lend a hand and help. My house network seams pretty reliable and my Control4 system is rock solid.

I thought I was having issues with my ISP because every once in a while my internet drops out but after some tests today I'm wondering if its my network. I read here in a post about PingPlotter and decided to download a trial today and run some tests. I am by no means a network guy and don't know what the data output of ping plotter means so I'm wondering if someone can help interpret it for me.

    My setup is as follows;

ISP's modem - its basic, no bells and whistles. Its just a modem and not a combo unit.

    Pakedge RK1 router

    3 pakedge 24 port switches

Modem is plugged into WAN1 on router, switch 1 (port 24) is plugged into LAN1 on router, switch 2 (port 24) is plugged into LAN2 on router and switch 3 is plugged into switch 2. All of my Control4 hardwired items are plugged into switch 3. Switch 3 is only for C4 gear, noting else.

I run 5 pakedge zones to separate traffic for data, security, automation, streaming/tv, other. I also have a separate guest network.

I have 3 pakedge access points all plugged into switch 2

No torrents running. No sonos devices.

I ran ping plotter for an hour and I screen captured the data. It looks like every 5 minutes there is an issue and then there is a grouping of dropouts but I don't know what it means. Like I said I'm not a network person and not sure where to look. If someone is willing to look at the PingPlotter pictures attached I would appreciate it.

I would appreciate any help you can give.

    Thanks
