  1. Forgive me for what I don't know. What do you mean by "NVR is fed through my distribution" and "I wouldn't worry TOO much about the NVR being available in C4"? Is NVR the live feed? Sorry...I'm a rookie. I'll have to look into the Pakedge cameras. I don't want the C4 integration to determine what hardware I go with, but if I can get awesome cameras and have them work in Control4, that sounds like a winner to me. Other than PoE requirements, should I worry about having the cameras on their own switch? Any pointers from camera specs to rack setup to everything in between is appreciated.
  2. I'll give this is a shot. I've seen the setting before but haven't ever enabled it. Wouldn't any device with the Control4 app want to always stay connected? I haven't played with the Ubiquiti settings too much to prevent overlap. I don't have any doubt that I have some overlapping going on, but Control4 is the only app that I use that gives me problems on the network. Any suggestions for tools to fine-tune the network? I'm using the Cloud Key. From what I can tell in the UniFi settings, UniFi has aided Fast Roaming by default. There's a setting to enable it but it says to enable it with caution as it will only affect certain devices. I haven't played with this setting at all. Should I enable it? My wife and I both have the Note 8 and we both experience the issue when using the Control4 app. I have two Ubiquiti AP-AC-Pros with the Cloud Key to manage it all. It looks like the DHCP server is enabled in the settings but I believe a different Ubiquiti device is needed for that. I use a basic Asus router with the wireless radios turned off since Wi-Fi is provided by the Ubiquiti network. Does anything else look out of place? I'm happy to fine-tune it more but I'll need my hand held. Thank you!
  3. I'm not sure if this is the right thread, but it's along the lines of what I'm curious about. Any help is appreciated. For a few reasons, I'm looking at adding some exterior cameras to my house and potentially an alarm system. I've never looked into this stuff much but I think it'll give my wife and I some peace of mind when we're away from home. I have a Control4 system at my house with an HC-800 as the controller. I'd love to have everything integrate together, but I guess I don't know the pros and cons of doing that. I'd love to have Control4 in the middle of it all, and checking a camera through Control4 on a TV would be nice, but it isn't required. At the end of the day, I'd love to install some really nice cameras that are worth something when an event actually happens, and I don't know what my expectations should be for an alarm system. I'm hesitant to call any of the companies that do this stuff because I'd like to do everything myself and avoid paying for some very overpriced hardware. Does anyone have any recommendations for exterior cameras and an alarm system? How are you using them today with Control4? Do I need to worry about an integration? Thank you for your help!
  4. As an update, I rolled back to 2.10.6 and everything is working great again. I never did try using OS 3 with an Apple device, but it sounds like the issue I was having is only affecting Android devices. Hopefully they fix it sooner than later so I can give it a try again. Thank you for all of your help!
  5. Thanks for helping me out, @thegreatheed. Again, sorry for all of the questions. It sounds like I'm not using a mesh network at all as my access points are hardwired with a controller that manages them. I'm not sure if my setup still isn't supported by Control4 since it is Ubiquiti, but hopefully this improves the ability to troubleshoot the issue with the Android app not connecting to my controller. I'd love to hear from anyone that is experiencing the same issue. So far, it sounds like Apple devices aren't experiencing this issue.
  6. Forgive me. Maybe I'm not clear on what a mesh network is versus a network with multiple access points. For something like my Ubiquiti setup, I have two access points that are hardwired with a controller that manages both. Is this not a mesh network? If not, is mesh something like Orbi where the data gets relayed from a standalone device back to another that is connected to the network? Sorry for so many questions.
  7. Interesting. If a customer has a large home, they want Control4, and they want every room in their house to glow with solid Wi-Fi signal, how is that being addressed?
  8. I'm not questioning it. I get it that not everything can be supported. It's just strange that everything worked fine with 2.10 and then no luck after upgrading to OS 3. Out of curiosity, how is the mesh network issue being addressed? Is all Control4 hardware required, or is there hardware made by other manufacturers that dealers have had good luck with for Control4-compatibility? With so many different solutions that are fairly-affordable now and available at local stores, I'm curious if customers have been hesitant to replace their network equipment for Control4-only stuff.
  9. As an update, I reached out to Support yesterday regarding this issue. They had me do a few things, including disabling one particular service on the HC-800, a couple of power cycles, unregistering and registering the controller, removing the devices from the Control4 account, etc. The change that made some progress was having the controller use Google's DNS servers rather than those being issued by the router. After the reboot, both of the Android devices were able to connect to the controller very quickly and all was working well. Of course, right after I finished with Support, I tried using the app again and received the error message all over again. When speaking with the technician, they asked if I was using a mesh network, which in this case, I am. It's a Ubiquiti network with a couple of access points and everything works well, including Control4 when it was on 2.10. The technician pointed me to a KB article and stated that mesh networks aren't supported in any way. I understand that they can't support everything, but considering that 2.10 worked fine and the upgrade to OS 3 is the only thing that changed, I'm scratching my head a bit.
  10. Done. I'm not a dealer but have access to Composer Pro. The check-in is for Support's use, right? Should I just open a ticket? I don't see anything jumping out at me to troubleshoot this particular issue.
  11. To elaborate on the issue I'm having, the app doesn't connect to the controller at all in most cases. I haven't found any patterns that make it work other than retrying to connect multiple times. I'm able to access the device with Composer Pro just fine with a laptop using the same Wi-Fi network that the Android devices are using. Is there any way to troubleshoot this? Is rolling back an option at this point?
  12. Thank you for your reply. Is there any way to troubleshoot the issue? I've been able to replicate it on two Android phones now. The same Wi-Fi network was used prior to the upgrade and everything worked fine. I'm curious if something didn't complete successfully during the upgrade.
  13. I took the plunge yesterday and upgraded to OS 3. I initially couldn't get the Android app to connect to the controller until I did a reboot. Unfortunately, the connections are still intermittent and the app seems to lose its connection quite a bit. As of right now, I have to use a remote to control anything with a first attempt. Has anybody else had these issues?
  14. Thanks for your feedback. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Note 8, and I've verified that Wi-Fi is always on during sleep. Anything else that you can think of to troubleshoot, either with the Android phone or on the Ubiquiti configuration?
  15. Just curious...has anyone had issues with the Control4 app losing connection with the Control4 controller when it changes from Ubiquiti access point to another? I've had this happen several times at my house, and I can restore the connection almost immediately by tapping the controller name, but I'd love to fix it if possible.
  16. Since I'm about to try and get my home up and running with Google Assistant, I'm curious what issues you've had. How are you trying to use Google Assistant with Control4 today, and what does/doesn't work?
  17. I don't know much, but I'm about to dive into a project with hopes that I can get everything working with Google Assistant. I'm an Android user, and I use the Google Assistant for many other things in my day except for controlling my small Control4 setup. I've read several threads on this site and it sounds like it's very possible to get the Google integration to work with a third party driver that's around $90. I'm hoping to have the project working by this weekend if I can get some of my wiring questions answered and I'd be happy to let you know how it went. If @msgreenf says it's possible, I'd take that and run with it. You might even be able to hire him to program it for you. Best of luck!
  18. Don't get too excited for me, but after digging into my garage some more, I think I have some options available to me. My current wiring scenario is as follows: Opener location (two-gang box) - separate locations for each opener (2-car and 1-car) Single-pair to motor Two-pair to other opener location Cat 5e to rack Garage doors Two-pair from each side of the doors to the motor (one pair is being used by the safety sensors) I am able to run new cable/wire from each opener to my rack, but there isn't any hope to run new wire to the sides of the doors without it getting messy and expensive. If I'm thinking about this correctly, I could install one magnetic sensor for each door and wire it to the remaining spare pair on one of the sides which will get me to the motor. From there, I believe my only option is to run a Cat 5e or 6 from one motor to the other and then back to my rack, ultimately using all four pairs (two motors, two sensors). Does this sound right? I wish that I could somehow use the existing Cat 5e sitting at each opener location, but I don't think I can. Any ideas? Last but not least, can anyone walk me through the programming on this? I have access to Composer Pro through a friend that's a dealer, but I don't like to lean on them if at all possible. I have the two green adapters for my HC-800 sitting at home, but I don't have a clue how they work, or even how to wire them. Any help is appreciated...and I'm excited!
  19. Thank you for your response. I have a single pair of wires on both sides of both doors, but those wires are currently used for the safety sensors. Is there a way to keep the safety sensor functionality and also use the wires for something else? I'm curious what the standard garage door kits include, what wiring they need, etc. Any additional detail is appreciated. This sounds awesome! I'm not familiar with all of the available hardware options, so please bear with me. What hardware do you have for your garage doors? Are you using Control4 in addition to Google Assistant, or did you bypass Control4? I have access to Composer Pro through a friend that is a dealer but I don't like to bug them with questions because they don't bill me for their time. If you're using Control4 in addition to Google Assistant, what driver are you using? I'll take as much info as you'll provide. I'd love to get some hardware ordered as soon as possible once I know what direction I want to go. Thank you for your help!
  20. There are some smart people in this forum and I'm hoping that some of you might be able to help me. I'm currently in the middle of a garage project and would like to add some Control4 functionality to my two garage doors if possible. Ideally, I'd like to be able to do the following: Open or close the garage doors from anywhere (using the Control4 app) Receive notifications when the garage doors are opened or closed, or when certain criteria is met Have the inside garage lights turn on with a separate Control4 switch if the garage is opened after a certain time I ran the wires for my garage but I wasn't thinking anything about advanced functionality at the time, and I'm hoping that doesn't limit my options. From each garage opener, I ran a single pair of wires to each side of each garage door for the existing safety sensors. Unless I tear into the sheet rock, there isn't any way to get additional wires or cables to each side of the door. It is possible for me to run new wire/cable from each opener and get it down to my rack. The garage door openers that I have are Liftmaster and were installed in 2013. I can provide the models if needed, but to my knowledge, they don't have any kind of smart functionality. I already have one Control4 switch in the garage and it doesn't have an issue with the Zigbee signal. What options do I have at this point? I've seen the Z2IO option mentioned, and even some additional sensors, but I don't know what options I have with my current wiring setup. I would like to hardwire everything as much as possible, but I understand that my options are probably limited. Any input is appreciated. Thank you in advance!
  21. I know that I'm in the right hands when you respond to one of my posts. As always, thank you for your help. I'll try to change the toggle setting on the "off" scene again tonight. I tried it last night and it didn't make a difference. I also have a separate button associated with a difference scene, and even though the "off" scene doesn't have a toggle setting either, it works like it should. If adding a scene to the Toggle Scene field doesn't change anything, do you have any other recommendations? Any thoughts on the button color change? I'm not sure if I'm on the right track on that one. Thanks again!
  22. I'm experiencing a similar issue and would appreciate any help. I have a couple of six-button keypads that I'd like to toggle scenes with. For example, when pressing Button 1, I'd like to activate a scene, and when pressing again, deactivate the scene. I have created a scene with all of the lights on, and then used the Create Default button to create a toggle scene with all of the lights off. I took a guess with the connection and associated Button 1 on the keypad with the Toggle Button Link for the scene that I created. When testing everything, the scene for Button 1 activates just fine when pressed, but I can't get it to deactivate or toggle when pressing the button again. I tested the same concept with a separate button and scene with fewer switches involved, and everything works fine. I'm scratching my head a little on this one. Below are some screenshots: Scene with Lights On Scene with Lights Off (Toggle Scene) Connections I don't have a Toggle Scene configured for the "off" scene, but when testing, it didn't change anything. In addition to toggling the scene, I'd like to have the light color of the button change when the scenes are activated/deactivated. I took another guess and tried to configure it as shown below, but I don't know what is considered "On" and "Off" for the button. Assuming that I can get this working, is it possible to replicate the same functionality on a separate keypad that involves the same scenes, or does it throw a wrench in things when the Button Link is associated with more than one button? Any help is appreciated!
