I went through this exercise a couple years ago.  I decided on shades with Rollease Acmeda motors.  That didn’t limit fabric selections and the Annex4 drivers (free) are quite good.

I would have loved Lutron, but way too expensive for 14 shades.

I have to give huge props to David been running his drivers for MQTT since early days and even since then been using it on some pretty sensitive equipment i.e. my solar farm running my house that publishes to MQTT.

His support willing to add features and help directly has been nothing short of phenomenal so thank you David!

The MQTT driver just opens up the world of C4 to so much more

    Regards

    hi,
are you saying that Ive interconnected between Vera, driver on the control4 electronic lock (generic), I will or not be able to control the zwave lock on the control4 domain.
If so that I can, I cant see on room control or inputs to configure.
Is there a step by step..
    Thanks

yeah...the touchscreens seem bananas. We all know what those kind of LCD screens and ARM processors cost (i.e. not a lot). They're not even using state-of-the-art SOCs or displays (4k, 120hz etc)

    Bad analogy.
The raw ingredients (hardware) aren't being marked up to the moon price wise for the restaurant to survive.
You are paying for the Chiefs (integrators) skill in creating a fantastic meal out of basic ingredients.
You basically are supporting the OP's argument lol

My two cents to throw in the pot...
I assume dealers are just like any business,  someone wants /  needs to make a minimum "overall"  margin on relationship / business dealing to make it worth their while.    I'm guessing a lot of dealers would be happy to make less on one element of the deal if they are assured to make more on another part of the deal and look at from an integrated margin.   That's how it is in my business and most others I suspect.   Give someone a guaranteed total return and I'm sure they would throw equipment in for less.   I think what buyers "should" like and sellers should resist is debundling every cost element of project and putting more purchasing power / leverage in the hands of the other side.
I'm a big fan of letting the free market process work and letting every buyer and seller agree their terms (cost and service).   What I'm not a fan of is MAP pricing, strong arming of dealers around price and basically letting sellers hide behind a suggested retail price as a shield to keep pricing up.   It's another form of collusion and not what our capitalistic model was based on, imho.

I realize that’s not how the industry works “chief”. I learned that on this forum and politely thanked people for explaining that C4 doesn’t allow dealers to discount. I got it. I never said I wanted to buy used stuff on eBay. I politely asked if there was a way just to buy hardware.

Here’s a better example: lots of dealers I’ve spoken with push Crestron over C4 in part because they make more money on more $$ hardware. That’s the kind of thing that exemplifies what I think is a problem.

I get the way the industry works. I’ve politely thanked people for explaining that. No need to pile on.

Did you read anything I said ? For the umteenth time: I want to pay an integrator !!!! FOR INTEGRATION. Not for shipping me hardware

I’m not alone. This is an incredibly obvious sentiment

But not by the act of reselling. By doing something in addition to the reselling...which is exactly what they should be paid for. That's my point. I can't for the life of me understand why that is so controverial or offensive. And I would wager the vast number of consumers would agree; has nothing to do with my particular needs

Jet airplane, huh? guess we are flying different planes.  Having actually compared them - the "cheap" blinds are not particularly loud, in either absolute or relative terms.  Louder than Lutron? Sure, but unless you have some special needs, you're going to be using them about three times/day, roughly 30 seconds of the 86,400 in a day.  I enjoyed spending the ~13K I saved on something other than my C4 dealer and a Lutron shop.  Maybe it's just me

you can skimp.  Bali + Vera was about 1/6th the cost i was quoted for Lutron Serena.
