  1. This was my first stop when trying to integrate the C4 doorbells with Unifi Protect, but the result I came to was that it only worked on older versions of Unifi Protect, and it no longer works on the updated versions.
  2. “The only draw back was Unifi wouldn't allow my C4 doorbells to stream via RTSP to the Unifi NVR…” yes the chime does, Unifi won’t allow it.
  3. It's a bit of a long-winded reasoning and process that got me here, but here goes. I originally was setup by my C4 dealer with Araknis (via SnapAV/SnapOne) networking equipment (router, switch, access points). But as my home network grew and I spent more time tinkering, I was not a fan of the Araknis management tools, interface, way over priced equipment cost, and especially the dealer-only access to buying it. I did some research and immediately became a fan of the Unifi platform regarding the pricing, ability to purchase it without a dealer, management tools, user interface, and the cohesive network environment. I originally swapped out my network equipment and installed a handful of Unifi cameras, and very much liked the Unifi protect camera system and app. The only draw back was Unifi wouldn't allow my C4 doorbells to stream via RTSP to the Unifi NVR,. so it required I have different apps for monitoring different cameras. In the end, I was able to utilize all the features I cared about with the C4 doorbells (doorbell button press trigger, motion detection, remote viewing) with the Unifi doorbells, and a Unifi driver to integrate with C4.
  4. (2) Control 4 Chime Video Doorbells (WiFi) - C4-VDB-W-SN (satin nickel) Used, works perfect, just replaced with a Unifi camera system and doorbells $250 each or $450 for the pair Control4 EA3 V2 Controller with Rackmount. - C4-EA3-V2 Used, works perfect, system increased in size and controller was upgraded to EA5. $200
  5. I'm not sure why people get so upset at opinions and experiences posted in this thread. The original post was "what are realistic expectations for Control4?" This is a completely open ended question that's depending on a wide variety of variables can be very different from user to user. If you're one of the apparently satisfied customers of some of the dealers who comment, then expectations are high. If you're someone else who's had poor experiences, or wants more out of a "smart home" than the ability to turn a lamp on and off to impress a dinner party, then you're expectations might be higher. Personally a home automation system should simplify you're interface with your home and the things you do everyday. If you're dealer has the ability to read your mind or better predict than you the the things you might find annoying after a few weeks or months of using the system, great! For everyone else, just like with any other smart home platform, it takes time to sort out how you actually use it, and also that the more connected devices you add, the more control and automations you can implement. This forum is filled with both dealers, and end users, who have wildly different experiences based on their side of the customer/dealer equation. Not sure why people feel the need to dismiss, or prove wrong an opinion or experience. Let the OP read comments and make up their mind.
  6. I replied to a previous comment that I misread the model number and thought it was just the 16 channel amp. The original poster stated it was an amp, not a matrixed amp. Sorry for any temporary or permanent emotional damage I may have caused you or any others. I've seen other posts where people stated amplifiers had to be programmed in, when it was just a dumb amp so I wanted to clarify that just because it has a C4 logo on it, doesn't mean it requires programming. cheers
  7. That's because you didn't install your system 1 month ago, and you've been both using your system for a long time (ie, the bugs and customization have already been ironed out and implemented at this point). This comment and thread was geared toward a new install and a new C4 user. I have done massive amounts of tinkering to get my system to where it is today, much and most of which will not be considered or planned up front until you start using it and and finding the gaps, pitfalls, or "I wish I could do this." scenarios. My current configuration and programming is far beyond where it started when my dealer initially installed, but as with you, I haven't made 1 change to my house either in the last month.
  8. Oh you're right, I misread the model and was thinking it was the C4-AMP108 which doesn't not include the integrated matrix switch. My apologies.
  9. I'm confused as to why there is a concern for a lightning strike targeting an insulated ethernet cable run below a soffit on the exterior of a building. Your roof and gutter will definitely be struck before this specific cable would ever be, and the cable isn't spanning any distance where it would be exposed without a roof or grounded gutter system providing a much better path to ground. I think anything beyond running cat6 cable is overkill. Even fiber is excessive unless you're running extreme distances (more than 100m/300ft) and/or want future proofing for higher than 10Gb/s bandwidth which cat6 cable is capable of.
  10. Amps are amps. They're not smart or controlled in any way other than taking the low level RCA input and amplifying it. It doesn't need a controller to work. You can literally plug any audio source with RCA outputs into the amp and get audio out to speakers.
  11. I don't believe the amp has to be programmed in. The amp is a dumb device, that is only required to be programmed in to endpoint connections. If you have a separate AMS and amp, the C4 system doesn't know what amp the AMS outputs are connected to, so it should work just by swapping the equipment.
  12. What driver is used for the airplay on the native controller stream? I currently have Shairbridge.c4z as shown below:
  13. really? I originally had an EA3, and now have an EA5 running my system, and just tried it again 2 minutes ago to see if it was an old issue that was resolved. It's literally 3-5 seconds for it to respond to volume changes, song changes, play/pause etc. I'm just using Youtube Music, and airplay on an Iphone 14 Pro. I've had this issue across multiple iOS devices and multiple C4 controllers now. Any thoughts? Am I the only one with this issue?
  14. I exclusively use the WMB for streaming from my iphone(s) to the distributed audio. For me there was such a massive delay with integrated shairplay function for all functions (pause, play, change track, volume change, etc.) that it was unusable, and I don't know how anyone else deals with it. The WMB occasionally will have some issues especially if audio is paused for a long time, or if it is interrupted with a phone call, then you have to manually reconnect to it.
