TV Remote

Is it possible to use the Control4 TV remote to access Amazon Prime movies?  Right now I have to turn off the TV with the Control4 remote and use my Sony TV remote that has all of the apps ( Amazon Prime, Google Play, etc.) to watch movies thru these other apps.  And when I watch these apps thru my TV remote, the sound only plays thru my TV and not my Control4 sound system.

I have a Sony that is ~1 year old.  I never use the Sony remote, only my SR-250.

But can you watch Amazon Prime with your Control4 remote?  I only have Netflix and Utube apps on my Control4 remote.

yeah I guess I am confused - my SR-250 or SR-260 remotes can navigate the Sony menus.  So I can go to Apps > pick an app, etc.  Are you asking about shortcuts/mini apps where you can do "watch > netflix" and netflix comes on your TV?  Is that what you want with Amazon Prime Video?

I'm confused, also.  I want to be able to have the ability to watch Amazon Prime Video on my SR 260.  Right now all I'm able to do is go to my "menu" button on my SR 260 and the only apps that come up are Netflix and Utube.

Did your installer put the Sony TV into Pro Mode??  If so, he may have only allowed those apps to show and nothing else.

so seems like the app needs to be added to the TV.  you can do that as an end user.  Just go to the app store on the TV assuming its not in pro mode as mentioned above which may lock down what you can do

I have the apps on my Sony TV but can't get to them unless I use the Sony TV remote and I want to be able to get to them with my Control4 remote.  I'd like to only have 1 remote to deal with.  Also, when I just use my Sony TV remote, I have to turn off my Control4 remote and then the sound only plays thru my TV and not my Control4 surround sound.

You'll need to extend audio from your TV to the sound system.  Do not rely on using HDMI ARC, this will cause more problems.  Extend the Sony Toslink output or convert the toslink to coaxial and send it that way.

Then its just a matter of adding the mini-app to your room so that you can launch prime from the watch menu and also making the correct bindings so everything switches properly.

In the interim, when you select watch on your remote, does the Sony TV come up as an option to select??  If so, select that and then hit menu (?), that should bring up your app menu and give you directional control over the Sony using your SR260 remote.

Sounds like your dealer never configured mini apps

So it sounds like my dealer dropped the ball (again).  Will he have to make a service call to configure mini apps or can he do that remotely?  And if he adds the mini apps is that another option I can go to on my remote when I hit the "watch" button?  And if so, will the mini app be for my Sony TV or Amazon Prime Video?  This is all so confusing and my dealer/installer isn't much help.

It can all be done remote! Tons of options for firetv. Less for Sony TV.
