Is market research appropriate in this forum?

The developer of a C4-compatible 240VAC 20A relay is deciding whether to invest in the testing and certification necessary to bring a prototype to market. Is it appropriate to describe the device in this forum and ask its readers if they have applications for it?

Is this for the US market or Europe.  I can think of two uses for this device for me in NA - to control my swimming pool pump which is 240V. Second is to control the water heater in my pool cabana.  I only have the water heater turn on by default on weekends from 10-10.

Heh, I could use one for a heater tomorrow. Seriously.

Oh and this is an open USER forum, though there are numerous dealers on here too (such as myself).

I don't see why it would be inappropriate to discuss a potential product here, just know that this is a public forum, so you may not want to give too much away.

Control4 used to have something simliar.  The heavy duty power controller.  Don't think it was used that often.  It might be worth reaching out to Quyen or Noel from Control4 to discuss the viability of the product in their market.

Is there some benefit to a c4 integrated relay vs a dumb relay/contactor with either a 12v trigger or even a 110v trigger and an essential switch?

Ease. What you're describing is something we're looking to do now, but if there was a ZigBee or even WiFi device that did it, it would be a lot easier (and means forgoing potential rewiring, electricians and so on).

Which is a fair point, though if it's ABLE to work in C4, but not focused solely on them, it would be a matter of finding a distribution channel that caters to C4 dealers and it could boost the overall product sale.

It has other features, like power monitoring for up to two loads.

I've heard no objections to doing market research here, so I'll post a draft data sheet early next week.

Just make sure that you are not breaching any non disclosure agreements by posting that information.

Well putting a reply out there for anyone who runs into this.  So I did get this installed back in 2016 and I've now completed another installation where we used this device to control a 6,6 KV sauna heater.  It works well and is reliable.   The only weird programming issue I ran against is that since each relay controls 110 I had to tie the two together in composer for the 220 output -- Im unsure if there is a better way to setup.

The product has now been discontinued by control4 and so thats all for my update.
